surely this cant continue, its an unjust and unfair system which will eventually kill the game,am not talking about rangers anti football am talking about sky and epl and its effect on our ability to compete.

if you look at the cl semis over last 3 yr its been english teams who are dominating, and winning until barca this yr,i hate to see us not able to buy players because we are being outbid by lets face it no hopers.

we are expected to try to compete in the cl when ,we cant even compete in the transfer market against teams who may never get there. has anyone come up with a solution to this as there always is one.:47:

Welcome to the free market mate. It's capitalism in sport and nothing short of FIFA and UEFA changes the rules governing transfers will even begin to stop it....or rather slow it down.

av just cheked out other threads that are going along similar line of frustration regarding players wages and capping, but heres a thought to clawing back the trillions used to bail out banks which we are all set to pay for.

why dont they set a tax on earning say 20k at 50% after 30k 55% all the way up to say 100k and above once you earn 20k you are taxed 90%.this would give us a chance to compete for players.

am sure reid can convince the gov to introduce some sort of handicap in the form of taxation. also once they have paid high tax for 8 yr it starts to come down to normal, some of the % of taxation goes to retirement funds for football players, and grass roots . roughly speaking.

It is becoming really frustrating that we cant compete on a level playing field anymore, if this was a business, the monopolies commission would have stepped in by now. Since the season 1997-1998 the champs league has been won by either epl, la liga or italian clubs apart from twice in seasons 2000-2001 & 2003-2004. I dont even get excited anymore when the transfer windows are open because we will only sign 2nd rate players, unless there is a dramatic rule change the spl will keep going down hill.

aye i think there's got to be some sort of buget and salary cap so that we have a chance at remaining a big club wich can compete :50:

Thats the free market. Tory cnuts worship it but it has not heart or morals and peoples insane competing with no boundaries just leads to disgusting levels of inequality. Is Beckham worth the wages of 150 nurses? I dont want to get too holier than thou about this but there are levels of injustice that are just warped and there is no way a footballer should ever be paid the same as the wage bill of an entire hosptial every year or something like that.

The thing is, we're not expected to compete in the Cl. Simple. Scotland in itself is a tiny nation but a nation with very high expectation, not just at club level but international. Scottish football whether it be at club or national will never be able to commpete at the top level. reach the last 16, maybe the 1/4 finals but that's it.

the thing that baffles me is though, we see how much more money these clubs get than us, yet they * about how unfair it is for them to compete with united, etc. and u always hear them talk about the lucrative group stages of the champions league, which to a team like tottenham who can spend millions and millions of pounds on one too many strikers, the 12 million strerling they get is merely the price of one player.

Im sorry but have you seen the debt these clubs owe ? a few bad years of not winning anything and these clubs are in trouble. Lets assume we are playing poker, Real madrid are all in atm, Why ? coz they have been pathetic the last few years and if the players they buy dont perform they are *. Barcelona cant even match the spending power of real and they have been the top team in spain for a few years. All i can say is it's only a matter of time until some big teams go into liquidation (Unless they stop this overspending). I dont care what anyone says but no footballer is worth 80 Million.

UEFA would need to bring out a rule saying that no team with for example over £20million of debt can play in it's competitions, then over time all clubs would need to get under that level and maintain it, which would mean wage reductions and transfer fee reductions. That would equal everything out and get it back "good" again.

Only problem would be, if UEFA were to do that Man Utd, Liverpool, Real Madrid, Juventus, Barcelona, AC Milan, Inter Milan and any other biggish cub in a lot of debt like Valencia, Roma etc would all break away into their own Super League and continue to be rolling in money and buy all the best players.
