If you can believe the Mail, celtic got WBA down to £1.4mill, not a bad bit of business.

Sportsmail understands a series of talks between Parkhead chief executive Peter Lawwell and West Brom chairman Jeremy Peace resulted in Celtic paying just £1.4million for Mowbray's services - far below the Midlands club's £2m 'non-negotiable' asking price.

All these WBA fans, claiming their guy is the best in the business, came up against the best in the business. I doubt our savings will be going into the transfer kitty though.

I don't mind that, if we have to pay the full £2million as a result of us being successful I can live with that :icon_mrgreen:

Yep. As a guy who is there to keep us stable financially what a job he has done.

He's steadied the ship and more.

There must not be one good chief executive in the football world then going by that logic.

Cause no team in no country wins the league year after year :97:

Spot on mate. I find it cringeworthy how people revere him as some kind of financial wizard.

We bid just over £2m for fletcher, am sure people would be moaning if we spent the? £4m hibs where wanting.

Is it Lawwell's fault that guys like Kovac decide to go to england instead of us??

Done a far better job than guys like mcleod and Mcdonald.

    who could do better??

how do you know Bilic would be better, no experience of scotland, no club experience, fair enough good contacts but he would have been a bigger gamble

Thats going off topic, this threads about backslapping our board even though they've been in part responsible for our pathetic surrender of the title. They have been known to be tight as * with the millions they milk from us and your happy to see them hold back on spending while still milking us all the time. :31::31: If we saved 600k on the deal so what, that saving is never passed on to us is it?
