Im just wondering now if the story that was on ETIMS last week has abit of truth behind it (like they have been before). The story was about Bilic wanting to stay in charge until the end of Croatias world cup campaign. I wonder if the other man is going to be holding the fort until Bilic is ready for ful control. Someone like Lubo perhaps? I might just be clutching at straws and hope for the best but......well, guess we'll wait and see.....STILL:rolleyes:

The Croatian manager made it clear in no uncertain terms he would love the job but there is a hurdle to be overcome on Celtic’s behalf for this ever to become a reality. Slaven is not only coach of the Croatian national team but is about as patriotic a coach as anyone is ever likely to come across and is not willing to leave his country in the lurch during the middle of qualifying for next summers World Cup Finals.<?XML:NAMESPACE PREFIX = O /><O:p></O:p>
    <O:p></O:p>
He has made it clear it would be an honour to manage Celtic but he can only commit to do this full-time from the end of October this year as this ties in with the conclusion of <?XML:NAMESPACE PREFIX = ST1 /><ST1:COUNTRY-REGION><ST1:pLACE>Croatia</ST1:pLACE></ST1:COUNTRY-REGION>’s World Cup qualifying campaign. If <ST1:COUNTRY-REGION><ST1:pLACE>Croatia</ST1:pLACE></ST1:COUNTRY-REGION> fail to qualify he will be full-time with immediate affect but if <ST1:COUNTRY-REGION><ST1:pLACE>Croatia</ST1:pLACE></ST1:COUNTRY-REGION> qualify they would only have a handful of friendlies to take care of over the following eight months with most of those taking place at the end of the domestic club season and in preparation for the World Cup.<O:p></O:p>
    <O:p></O:p>
The question facing the Celtic board is, if Bilic ticks all the boxes they want are they willing to take the risk of entering a Champions League qualifying campaign and the first three months of the new season without a new manager in place and face the certain wrath of a section of our support and those blaggards in the media should results not go our way?

Management Duo would probably mean someone who might not win favour with a section of fans, alongside someone with impeccable Celtic credentials to sweeten the pill.

But probably just media pish, as always.

With any luck he will teach Aiden how to shoot, actually I have alwyas wanted Thommo to come back as a coach to teach McGeady how to shoot and cross like he did, McGeady would be unstoppable if he could.

I don't see the point to that arrangement:

Doesn't say much if that's their main motivation.

Celtic eye Henrik Larsson as No2 to Mark McGhee in managerial dream team.

A managerial logjam has built up as Celtic’s attempts to install a replacement for Gordon Strachan ground on beyond the point anticipated by the club’s directors.

Mark McGhee was installed as odds-on favourite, but there was no movement on that front on Friday night.
Tony Mowbray and Owen Coyle all remain on the club’s list of possible successors to Strachan, to the frustration of West Brom, Motherwell, Burnley and Aberdeen.

Mowbray started at the top of the bookies’ list of candidates but drifted off the pace as a considerable weight of money took McGhee to the status of odds-on favourite by early Friday afternoon.

Steve Nicol, the former Liverpool and Scotland defender, also appeared on the radar on Friday night.

The 47-year-old, who has coached in the United States with Boston Bulldogs and New England Revolution since 1999, has established himself in the United States but has never lost his Scottish accent or a desire to measure himself at some stage against European coaches.

Telegraph Sport can confirm that McGhee is the principal back-up option but that he would be asked to become manager if Henrik Larsson agrees to become assistant manager, with Neil Lennon as first team coach.
The advantages of such an arrangement from Celtic’s point of view are that it would be less expensive than the compensation agreements that would have to be negotiated with either West Bromwich Albion or Burnley – thus freeing up a degree of cash for transfer movements – and that Larsson, who is still playing with Helsingborg, could be registered as a squad member for the hazardous Champions League qualifiers in July and August, effectively bolstering the team with a figure who remains talismanic, even at the advanced age of 37.

Aiden McGeady is a winger not a striker nor is he Cristiano Ronaldo nor anywhere near it. Teaching him to shoot would be a waste of time.

Teaching him to look up and find a pass when it needs to be played or when to go for the byline should be bet into him.

TBH, I would rather McGhee have a no.2 who he knows and who's opinion he trusts without doubt. He's never worked with Larsson nor has Larsson any expierence but is expected to form an excellent management team? Talk about yer long shots!!

Personally I think its a total slap on the face if mark mcghee was appointed. A yes man that wont buy big and that would suit the board no doubt. We can forget about europe this season aswell then. Aint no way he'll get us through to the group stages.

BUT.... I dont think he'll be appointed, I think the hun media havnt got a clue who's going to be the new manager is going to be and there enjoying themselves just now taking the * out of us. Just hope that dermott desmond has a ace up his sleeve and keeps the joker out the pack:bbpd:
