i feel that most of our potental amnagers show a lack of ambition ie, mcghee, martinez,mowbray...i may be wrong if one of these guys become sthe manager and is a succsess. also a lack of ambition in january to sign new players was a big factor on us loosing our title. thoughts?

The fans have unachievable aspirations more than the board have lack of ambition.

To suggest they'd go out of their way to hamper the club by not appointing the best possible manager is a nonsense. Davie Moyes, universally accepted as the best option, was clearly asked and turned it down. There's not a lot you can do about that.

If they appoint any of the British managers other than Moyes(wont happen) I think it would show a lack of ambition

I think they show a major lack of ambition in the amount of money they are currently willing to spend, considering they are constantly telling us we are the richest ever in our history. I also think they knew the answer to the Moyes question before it was asked. They won't pull the wool over my eyes any longer. Are they telling us after asking Moyes that Martinez, McGhee and Mowbray are the next best thing to him?

They're not much better mate :54:. There's no doubt about it the board are targetting the lower end of managerial ability scale :87: I want a monumental managerial signing before I renew my season ticket and it looks like I will be a long time waiting

Lack of ambition or being realistic? We'll find out if they continue with 'building for the future' speech or invest in the squad & manager!

I get the impression that the board are happy enough for the team to be as good as it needs to be to beat rangers (although they misjudged that this year by not strenthening in January) instead of being as good as they can be.

I agree that they have to be prudent and investing in youth is the way forward for us however I think they are being over cautious with the purse strings. I'm not looking for us to go out and buy 3 or 4 £6million players, however, I am looking for us to buy a bit of quality and experience as otherwise who are all the younger players meant to learn from?

As for the manager situation - we're never going to attract a top manager so that leaves us with a choice of either a reasonably OK manager from a better league or a young manager with great potential.

    Seriously!!

Our fans just annoy me now. We are not Man U or Liverpool. Sure were in the best financial situation we have been in for years, but you all take that out of context. We might not be in debt, but we don't have millions to spend or can afford the chance of taking on debt that we have just cleared. In the current financial market, things are even worse.

And lets take a look at the league we play in. It's just pathetic now. Rangers are pure * and won the league. Teams like Dundee and Hearts are ultra * and they take points off us regularly. The quality and standard in Scotland, including the Old Firm, is very poor.

Why would Moyes, who plays in an amazing league, with lots of money, great players, great competition and getting to go to Old Trafford etc want to come here? You would have to be retarded to want to manage a Scottish club unless you have ties to that club.

So I will make this statement as plainly as I can : We are a second rate team in Europe, we will get second rate managers and players. End Of.

Secondly, the attitude that * me off most is the writing people off when 90% of us know nothing about them. Ridiculous in every way. Who heard of Larsson or Moravcik really before they came and blew us away? Or Wim Yansen?

Everyone has to grow up and realise we play in one of the poorest, both financially and in quality, leagues in Europe. We will get players and managers that reflect that fact.

The Club do not lack ambition, the supporters lack credible expectations.

yep the expectations are way too high and yes theres people who need to give the board a bit of credit and some of them will be the same who never gave wgs a fair crack from the start . This is now the time when you need to reflect on what we have just lost and was it a case of better the devil you know because although the wee man had his faults he won trophies and surely thats all that matters at the end of the day

I feel its a mixture of both.

The board are tight as * and the fans expect too much.... good recipe for a sticky situation.

That might be because the transfer window hasn’t opened yet! <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />

As for the lack of ambition well that’s been clear for the last few years. As we all know the balance sheets are more important to the board than the team.

I dont think its a lack of ambition more that the club (board, whatever) are never gonna let our club get into the financial mess that was the 1990's.

Lets not forget that we came within minutes of closing down, so i can kind of understand why we always seem to be cautious when it comes to money matters. The * has collapsed out of both the financial and footballing worlds and in scotland there is nothing to say the over the next few years there will be more money in the scottish game, christ even setanta are re-writing their deals with the league.

It is frustrating but i can understand the mentality, a cautious club is better than none at all sort of thing. Personally id love to see them speculate to accumulate but its not my money :)

I don't think it's too much too ask for the board to push the boat out a bit. In the last 3-4 years my season book has exceeded £500+ even though the standard has dropped dramatically. I paid alot less to see the likes of Henrik, Lubo, Sutton, Petrov etc. So is it fair to ask supporters to pay more and expect less? I think if they want to keep the fans happy (or as happy as can be) lower ticket prices or bring in a name or two that would excite fans, that would put arses back on the seats and get the general buzz back that has been getting less and less.

It's called inflation and has nothing to do with the product.

i think the board lack ambition definetly.

its blatalty obvious when we dont spend money, go for "squad" players who dont even get a game half the time and try and sign * managers.
