This guy's agent has been giving lots of statements saying that he is very keen to come to us and can take us to a new level. Id take him anyday of the week. But im also very disapointed with the names getting mentioned,Tony Mowbray - Got his team relagated. Owen Coyle - Won the playoffs in the champions ship, not a huge achievement in my books. And this guy from Swansea, nothing needs to be said there. Why are we going for people who have'nt won anything and are managing at lower leagues or have been relagated. Atleast this Slaven Bilic has a little bit of a pedigree and seems to think he can do the business, give him the money and he could be a success.Thats IF the board decide to actually get the pennie's out:31:

Source - As i have'nt made enough post's i cant get the link but go on google and search Slaven Bilić and the 3rd, 4th and 5th pages are all about his intrest to comming to celtic.

This has been posted numerous times already............

Read the Billic thread before you post something that was mentioned days ago.

Sorry but winning the championship with west brom in your first season is quite some achievement. I dont think you quite understand how hard a league the championship is to win

    Hear hear.

No offence to the original poster, but I'm sick of hearing people say that it's a disgrace/sell-out/betrayal etc when we are linked with players or managers from the Championship.

Maybe they don't realise the Championship is one of the ten richest leagues in world football...

The quality is poor though. Its competitive, no doubt, but there is a lot of poor football there.

It might not be that much of a step up to the SPL, the champions league is where we want to be and we need a manager that can mix it with the best.

Rudi Vata has said he wants to speak to Celtic but he's also done the exact same thing with Sunderland. It's not as if Bilic wants to exclusively join Celtic, he's been on SSN since the breaking of the initial statement and never uttered a peep about it.

You're having a laugh. In terms of quality, it's a clear step down from the Championship to the SPL.

If we want someone to come to the SPL from the Championship, we are asking them to take a step down. Not only in terms of quality, but crucially that the Championship contains the possibility of promotion to the world's richest league. The SPL is a dead end.

Obviously, we want a manager that can mix it with Europe's elite. But equally obviously, such a manager won't be coming to a small footballing backwater on a rainy wee island in the North Sea, for the privilege of facing St Mirren three times a year. :icon_mrgreen:

you think coyle getting BURNLEY into the premiership is no big achievement?? I don't really want coyle either but come on! as for your statement that bilic has pedigree - yes he took Croatia to the quarter finals of the WC but croatia has many top quality players and you would have to be a pretty poor manager not to do well with them

Bilic has done nothing to suggest he would be a success at celtic.

None of the managers listed by the press as likely candidates have had top level club management experience, they are all relatively inexperienced managers and therefore all are going to be risky.

There is no evidence to suggest Bilic would be the best choice, equally there is no evidence to suggest any of the others would be the best option either so we just have to trust the board to appoint who they think is the best man for the job - their previous 2 appointments have been successful so lets hope they continue with that trend.

yeah i know croatia are a good side but theres alot better countires than croatia so to get them to the quater finals of the WC is a bigger achievement than getin relagated from the prem or winning a play off

first I must apologise for saying that bilic lead Croatia to the WC quarter finals when in fact it was the euro 2008 quarter finals. this has been the only major tournament bilic has been in with Croatia. at the tournament itself they qualified from a four team group at the expense of Poland and Austria and were then dumped from the tournament by turkey. hardly impressive.

coyle on the other hand lead an extremely average team into the premiership

I am certainly not saying that I want coyle for the job but I just don't see what the big deal about bilic is?

is it because he is seen as a 'rebel' figure which some of the fans can relate to? because it surely can't be for his managerial skills which have been average at best
