Well, Coyle was bookies favourite and look what happened. These bookies are usually right, but we've seen that they can make big mistakes.

sure they can ...just the point i was making was that something obviously happened....at 7pm...whether it develops to him getting the job is another matter...but it was a big jump from 25+/1 to fav.

Mate, relax. They don't know who's it going to be and they are just guessing. I think Bilić is the biggest favourite.

all it takes is a couple of big bets and the bookies assume someone has insider knowledge and slash the price. dont think he has enough experience for the job so if it is him he wiil need a very experienced back room team who a respsected by the team and the fans

He was 8/1 this morning and went to 2s with Paddy Power not long ago.

Bookies will move prices up and down because mugs will think something has happened. Coyle was as short as 4/9 while Mowbray has been 11/8 Bilic as low as 9/2 from 33s Levien was 5s after being 14s...

It's just because some big bets have been put on him...he's still a massive outsider IMO

When i worked in the bookies we wer told to stop taking bets on Martin
O'Neil taking the Newcastle job, people where coming in putting £100 on every 2 mins across the UK, the price during a few hours came rattling down. It was all down to a rumour he was at St. James' Park! He never got the job though Glen Roeder did!

Spot on. They shorten the odds on this guy so it appears to the betting public that there has been a 'whisper'.....then the mugs pile money on him.

bookies just cover their backs with these things, they musta took a big bet and shortened their odds accordingly.

Doesnt necessarily mean theres anything in it.

I take it you laid Coyle, Mogga, McGhee et al while they were the favourites?

Dont get me wrong I like a punt on the Football, occassionally the horses and dogs. Sometimes Blackjack. But betting on the next manager of Celtic-unless you know something- is mental imo! There are so many quoted possibilities that there is no value, on top of that it may even be an unquoted person.

Bruce is 1/16 for the Sunderland job all because there has been an approach... How many mugs will hammer that all for him to say 'no' which is a big possibility. Its not representing the gamble/risk

Personally if I were to bet on it I would bet Levein. Passionate, can change games and more importantly a cheap option for the board who would accept a cheap budget. Decent prices kicking about on him.
