i heard them say on the radio earlier, in the past when appointing a new manager, dermot was the man who chose the manager . guss hiddink was going to be manager and at the last minute dermot said no i want o'neill. the same with strachan too. this time he's allowing lawell and reid to do the business. anyone get the feeling he's not interested anymore.
i feel it's time he either backed the club or sells his share.
before everyone starts jumping on me , the guy is worth billions. the average season ticket holder puts about 2.5 % to 5% of their annual wage into supporting their club. i dont think it's too much to ask him to do the same.

our club seems to have no ambition anymore.
c'mon desmond , give the fans something to smile about.

desmond is more interested in man utd and horse racing mate in my opinion he stopped giving a * after o'neill left which is why he appointed strachan as he knew the wee man would do as he was told and no hassle the board for money like o'neill or any decent manager would do.

Personally I don't like any billionaires, it goes against my belief in humanity.

    Sells his share to who?

Who would want to spend millions buying into a Scottish club? Moonbeams has been trying to punt Rangers for about 3 years now without so much as a sniff.

Dermot Desmond is not a charity, his presence on the Celtic board guarantees financial stability. Which is about as much we can hope for, especially in the current economic climate.

Why would you want a billionaire to fund transfers from their own pocket - if the got bored and decided to move on how financial stable would the club be then?

We need to be self sufficient as a club - we are at present and need to ensure we remain that way.

    what gave it away?

Mate the financial statements are freely available, you can see exactly how the club is doing financially.

i never said it had to come directly out of his pocket literally i meant the clubs purse and as desmond is the top man i'd imagine he'd have the say on how much money is made available...you cannot possibly tell me that the club cannot afford to put up more funds thats just ridiculous !

He is a shareholder like lots of others ,doesnt mean he gives out handouts ,look at Chelsea if yer man [him lol] walked tomorrow ,Chelsea would close within a year ,the money he has banged into that club has been enormous amounts and theres no way they could exist if he walked ,on a smaller scale if DD handes celtic 30 million tp play with and he decided to go ,celtic have an instant 30 million pound debt ,better of the way they are.

I think it IS too much to expect Celtic to spend £30million. By the time Martin O'Neill left Celtic we were over £30million in debt and the debt was only heading in one direction UP! Champions League money was not enough to reduce the debt or even keep it where it was. In short, things would have spiralled out of control if the board hadn't acted.

I do however think it is quite reasonable to expect the board to come up with the money for say....2 players at £4-5million each and pay them £30,000 a week. We should be able to find players in that price range who are of a quality that would really help us out. Obviously that will be dependant on the new manager identifying good players. But my point is that those kinds of figures should not be beyond us.

30 million, in my book, is just not realistic and therefore not worth wasting your time wishing for or getting worked up about.

Compare percentage wise what Desmond has lost, compared with every other billionaire in football, during the recession.

He is a smart guy, business wise. Hiddink would have been a bad choice anyway. Just support the new guy when he comes in.

That probably was bitchy, unintentional however. Apologies if it offended.

I think folk get bored of seeing frustrated punters that don't get that Desmond doesn't bankroll Celtic and never will that's my point.
