What size of club do you class Celtic as?

I think the last category should explain a bit more. I mean does it mean Highland League status...?

They are pretty big, they have the same resources as Chelsea and won the Uefa cup

Ajax and Bayern would be up top for me as well, it's not all about the here and now when counting club size

You can't really compare Celtic to the EPL or any European team really. You can only compare us with the Huns!

EPL mid - lower table teams and even some championships have more money because of TV rights and just a decent league to be honest, but domination by Liverpool, man U etc means they can never earn themselves the history or country wide appeal that Celtic can gain in the SPL.

So we are comparable with Liverpool and Barca because we are the best club in a footballing country, even if it is Scotland

 

Shaktar? maybe not but neither do Chelsea, they are a team going places like Zenit etc so deserve a place up there imo

We're one of the biggest clubs on the planet, and on a good day more than a match for anyone on the planet. Our History is rich, and Our Support is Global

Our only restriction is finances that stops us competing with other big clubs financially

 

I put smallish club. In terms of Celtic in 2009 we are a similar size to west ham. I agree we have a great history, but so do clubs like Nottingham forest and Leeds utd. We have a big support, but so does Newcastle. We have won lots of trophies, but in a very weak league where we are 99% of the time in the top 2.

My reason behind this thread was to get an understanding of why so many people seem to be insulted that Celtic is getting linked with the likes of tony mowbray and owen coyle. And I wanted to see how many of our supporters suffered from dilusions of grandure from things we did 40 years ago. The fact of the matter is, that in modern football (mainly due to a lack of resource) Celtic is no longer the size of club most of our support seems to think it is. Most of the EPL would beat us to players, and for that reason alone, that's why the likes of mowbray is the best we can hope for. It's a sad fact, but a true one.

Well said mate, Ive been saying this to people for ages. Its not only scotland thats suffering through this madness of money distribution. The "English" Premiership has very few top english players and now realistically only 1 of 3 maybe 4 will ever win it. Up here its between us and them, in holland its PSV , Feyenord and ajax and same in most other countries. The champions league is becoming stale as its the same teams in the latter stages every year ( we were seconds away from Man U v Chelsea 2nd year in a row) . You might well see in the future Big clubs like Celtic ,Ajax , Anderlecht etc forming some kinda league. Personally I would welcome it rather than this SPL *. Gawd it would be funny if the bubble burst on the premiership coz they are all up to thier eyeballs in SERIOUS debt. Apparantely Man U who won the premiership and champions league last season and play in front of 750000 every home game STILL made a loss of £40million on top of the massive debts they already have.
