He came in towards the end of the season so we've not seen that much of him, but from what I have seen he looks as though he could be as good, if not better than Heid and he definately puts Mick to shame. We only need to make one change to the defence, a new LB. Loovens should be given a good run in the team next season.

    Thoughts?

If WGS is still here, which I hope he won't.

a new manager would have loovens fisrt choice ahead of mick & the captains armband
would go to someone who can actually lead the team on the park.

Totally agreed. McManus gives his all, but his all just isn't good enough.

    Hinkel..Caldwell..Loovens..New LB..

Would be the perfect defence IMO. Naylor and McManus cost us way too many goals this season which ultimately lost us the league.

Caldwell and Loovens are our best centre half pairing, I don't think you'd find many people that will disagree with that.

I like the look of it as well, Loovens has pace and heading power which dovetails well with Caldwell and his ability to play it on the deck. Both are no less commited than Mick either.

I think most of us would agree that he's better than McManus.
As long as Strachan isn't still in charge, I'm sure he'll get a run in the team next season.

Loovens is now looking as good as we'd hoped....

IMO he and Heid should be our starting CB's

I like the big guy as i like hinkel too i think both have taken very unkind stick at times this season i mean they both work for the team and if they continue to get a run in the team they can go from strrength to strength and i have to admit id have glen in before big mick

I think it should be Loovens and Caldwell at the back now from now on :50:

Loovens has been outstanding since he came in, and if Strachan had had the balls to drop McManus we would have won the league imo.

I also think we could get a better RB than Hinkel. Someone who is tall, tough tackling and can get up and down the flanks with speed all day

    RB.....Caldwell....Loovens.....LB

I really like big Glen, he's a big strong hard defender & as Hammer says - he has a bit of pace, which we've not had for a good while.

I think Strachan would drop him in an instant, as soon as Mick is anywhere near semi-fit.
