:84: Well that's the thing. Sports betting is maybe about 50% maths, 40% group psychology, and only about 10% knowledge of the actual sport. That's what most people don't realise. My actual knowledge of football is nowhere near that of someone like Gordon Strachan, and not as good as a number of folk on this forum either. What I'm good at is betting.

Yeah, Mowbray would do me too - like his outlook on the game. The Celtic way.

Agree on Mowbray. He is still my first choice.

I'd have Mowbray over Coyle any day of the week.

I cant believe the amount of people who are already complaining that we havent appointed anyone yet! Its been 3days! Obviously this is a very big decision that cannot be taken lightly. There are a number of candidates, Coyle, Bilic, McGhee, Mowbray and those are only the ones we know about. Theres bound to be at least the same amount that we dont know about. We sould take the time to weigh up the pros and cons of the potential managers, and make an educated decision. Its too important to rush into and I dont mind waiting an extra week if we get the best man in.

hasnt achieved much since? how about winning the hardest league in europe to get promotion from? how about competing in the premier league against 4 of the best teams in the world and the following 15 having a greater squad than his? with all that to compete with he still stuck to his guns, playing pure football, with much deserved plaudits AND only finishing 3 POINTS OFF SURVIVAL!

that not enough?

calm down, so you think a championshop manager is great for celtic? its different if he took west brom up and stayed in a decent position there, that would be sign of a good manager, and sticking by his guns and playing football while the team is losing every game isnt anything good, just means whatever happens hel stick by that no matter what the result is, so you would be happy seeing lovely football but losing every other game, he has won 8 drawn 8 and lost 22 which isnt great by any means

West Brom were unlucky in a lot of games.

His team has a nice shape and plays good football but was let down by individual errors and a lack of a quality forward.
When the lad Fortune came in they had a bit more of a cutting edge about them.

Maybe if he had better individuals in defensive areas, that would have cut the errors out of his game.

The important thing is that he learns from that and takes it into account. And i think he has learned a lot this season.

If Mogga joins Celtic he will continue to learn his trade, as he is still a young manager. But, he has shown that he can get a team playing good stuff and get results. That impresses me.

I heard his mother didn't want him to take the job the minute he was linked with it because his family didn't want the pressure and attention that came with it. The gold fish bowl of Scottish football etc.

Then the hysteria on here and the radio football phone-ins prove that he wasn't even wanted by a lot of the hoops fans so it is very likely that he thought I'll stick with Burnley. Why is that so hard to imagine?

why are you so quick to down the english championship? in mine and im sure many others oppinion, its a better league than our own so dont be so * fickle. to be honest, getting promoted from that league is a greater task than winning our own, no disrespect to the SPL but the standard of opposition is completely different between the two. the fact he is a 'celtic man' is irrelevent but it is a boost to be in for someone that GENUINELY cares about the club, no some guy that would come here and a month later saying this and that about how much he cares...Mobray invented the huddle didnt he? anyways thats no important...the fact is hes a good manager, in fact no, hes a great manager, who i believe would be more than capable of steering us in the right direction of taking back the title from the castle grey skull mob, and wed enjoy a nice brand of football to boot.

so dont go dissing something you obviously dont know a lot about.

end of rant.

PARKHEAD managerial target Owen Coyle last night urged Burnley to let him open talks with Celtic.

The Clarets boss has given the Hoops the green light to land their top target by admitting he now wants the top Parkhead job. Coyle, who led his team to the Premiership, via the play-offs, had initially said he wouldn t turn his back on the Clarets but he has since had a change of heart.

The 42-year-old was torn between a crack at the Premiership an emotional return to his boyhood heroes and he has let his heart rule his head. Turf Moor chairman Barry Kilby was still fighting tooth and nail behind the scenes to keep Coyle but knows he is fighting a losing battle.

If Kilby does fail in his bid then Celtic are likely to get their man for around £450,000 in compensation to cover the last two years of his contract. Reports suggested that Parkhead chief executive Peter Lawwell met with the former St Johnstone boss earlier this week but both sides have refused to confirm those claims.

Coyle would also want to take his current assistant Sandy Stewart with him. West Bromwich Albion boss Tony Mowbray, Dundee United s Craig Levein and a David O Leary and Roy Aitken dream ticket are also in the equation but Coyle remains the preferred choice.

Swansea boss Roberto Martinez has also been linked but that is a non-runner. It would cost Celtic £1 million to active his release clause with the Championship outfit to get the former Motherwell player. Croatian boss Slaven Bilic has also thrown his name into the hat.

Yeah I agree that the board would have known but the other candidates - ie bigger names might not have. So i was just meaning that tey should wait and see before just deciding on Coyle if you catch my drift.

Bilic has previously said he would want the job when quizzed on the topic.

Yeah Josh, they shouldn't just rush in, all possibilities should at least be spoken to firstly
