If I was Owen Coyle I would tell Lawell and Celtic Thanks but no Thanks. I am sick to death of Celtic fans on Real Radio and Clyde 1 phoning in and slagging the guy off before he even had a chance the fans are shocking give this guy serious stick already.

We don't deserve a good manager cos' we'll moan like * no matter who we get in.

If I was Owen I would stay at Burnley were I was a Legend. Why come up here and get treated like *.:97:

Because everyone wants a big name.

The closest thing is Bilic. He may need time to settle into club management and into Scottish Football. He may not even be a better candidate then Mogga or Coyle.

At least they have had a few years in club management, had success, know Celtic, know the Scottish game and can settle quickly.

Any of the three would be a success. Im leaning towards Mowbray because i like his philosophy, it mirrors my own.

As long as we get our title back and doit playing good football i'll be a happy fan. And then we can push on and think about progressing in Europe.

Here's hoping he gets the hint and satys put then

(I will continue to support the club no matter whoever is in charge but he is not the right man for the job in my opinion)

The Alex Ferguson comparison is funny. You mussed the bit about AF dominating the SPL on buttons and winning 2 European trophies before he got his big job. Coyle is still at the stage AF was at when he was at St. Mirren before going to Aberdeen. There is no comparison. AF was a one-off who had achieved overturning the OF domination even nearly 30 years ago in his first years at Aberdeen.

It has only been a couple of days so they may yet speak to all 3 or maybe more. Out of those 3 though I feel Billic would be the biggest risk even if he is a 'big' name.

Quite simply "As long as we get our title back and doit playing good football i'll be a happy fan. And then we can push on and think about progressing in Europe." is my thoughts exactly.

I just hope that if Bilic does come he doesn't make us into a laughing stock. Hes no got any club experience, knows nothing about scottish football but hes less of a gamble than Owen Coyle according to some.

    NO to Coyle
    NO to Mowbray
    NO to Keane

The idiots who wanted WGS out began their tyrade cos he wasn't "one of us" (scottish, irish or a former player) and what a load of tossers you are!
Nobody, either scottish or irish, is of a high enough managerial calibre for celtic!!
Slaven Bilic would be ideal... remember 11years ago it was a Dutchman who brought us back from the dead and stopped the 10-in-a-row!!
I know a man who has great credentials, many of our fans may not like him for one of his past posts, but he IS a great manager and has proven so at European club and International levels... He's currently unemployed. He might be expensive but he would bring real experience and a global contact base... what about Mr. Sven Goran Eriksson?? Seriously!!!!:shamrock::50:

Exactly, although I'm leaning more towards Coyle than Mowbray.

Bilic has never had to deal with players on a daily basis, work within budget, doesn't matter who would want to play under him as it depends on what the board will offer wages wise and it's not as easy to get work permits for young talents nowadays so there are no guarantees on how well he would adapt to club football, but because he's the biggest name that's why most want him. I would be happy if we signed him, but I'm not foolish enough to think he'd be an automatic saviour like a lot of posters seem to think.

As for Coyle, he has his own risks, no European experience being the main one imo, but I'm not that worried about that, I think he has a good eye for a player and I like the way he plays the game, we know the board won't give the new manager a huge war chest and he has proven he can work well on a budget. The championship is probably of a better standard than the SPL and is widely considered as the hardest league in Europe to be promoted from.

i really cant believe how people are so excited about this possible managerial appointment

i have said it before, Celtic fans questioned WGS's credentials! Owen coyle has done nothing by comparison and we are celebrating WGS leaving and a novice coming in!

    i dont get it

second in the scottish first division - 1 result against the huns - yes 1, a couple of semis in cups and when you consider how poor we played in some of those competitions, there was only one team to beat and the rest was a case of best team on the day

promotion via playoffs in the english championship and two fantastic cup runs does not make owen the finished article

how low in your estimations have Celtic sunk to have fans jumping for joy at the potential appointment of a relatively inexperienced manager?

can we assess all options before jumping to the Celtic supporter option! especially a novice in managerial terms?

I thought WGS was a pain in the * but by golly he is up there with the best of them, results wise and trophies wise. Can we afford to put a potentially good manager in the dugout? to think of the abuse WGS took!

No-one is saying he's the finished article, and I certainly don't think he's better than GS but GS has gone, someone new is coming in and out of the options being mentioned Coyle would be my choice because I see the potential in him, yes it's a risk but they are all risky.

I don't care that he's a Celtic fan and in fact the only people I've seen constantly mentioning it are those that don't want Coyle.

Bilic is even more of a novice than Coyle.

    danni

you will note i didnt mention any other option other than owen coyle because i do not think we have yet explored all the potential candidates

i reckon there would be a ot of managers interested in the prestigious post as manager of Celtic, i dont believe we have spent enough time exploring these options or allowed for applications or approaches to the club from prospective candidates

i think we should wait and explore all options and not be too hasty

    Have a guess?
even if we got bilic, u think he'd wanna shop in the spl or league 1, we wouldnt have the cash to sign top young croat or eastern european players, and wouldnt get work permits for the lesser known players that are from these places. the board need a mcgee or coyle or mowbray, they need someone who is just happy to be at a club like celtic, and will buy the best of the rest. if bilic came he'd walk after 6 months under current circumstances with peter lawall and the rest.
