The whole year the board have been saying we're not making big signings because we're going to focus on getting the best young players and training them up. Then they go and do this, absolute joke!

Dont look into this too much,if the boys that were released had taken the oppertunity and maybe had won the league or cup at that level ,then yes you would say what was happening at celtic ,but to finish in the bottom half of the league and get knocked out of the cup to inverness then thats not good enough for glasgow celtic fc.

To be honest I couldn't give two * about results at U19's level, development of each player should be the focus at that level not results. The reason for the release of these players will not be down to under performing at U19's level it's because they have shown a lack of potential and improvement.

I'll wait until something official is released from Celtic.

Guys like Forrest I'd imagine won't be going anywhere other than the reserve side. The fact the under 19 side was so poor this year will have been a factor, maybe McCart wants to bring through younger players quicker in that environment. We can only speculate.

you cant say that until you see them playing at a higher level there not even getting the chance to play at reserve level if this story is true so you cant judge them yet

I thought the Celtic policy was to bring on the next generation of first team players through the youth ranks but it seems its another crock of * we have been told by the board

How has there been a crock of * told by the board? These guys have been training at Lennoxtown for 5 minutes and should be at the last stage of their development.

If they're not good enough then they're not good enough, it's as simple as that.

The sun story is a load of *, it's only the oldest boys that have been released. Celtic have 16,17, and 18 year old's that play for the under 19's and they will still be there, the bottom line is the guys that were axed did not make the grade.

The under 19's still exists, it's just all the ones not good enough were let go, it's been happening over the last few months. Foley, Monti and Bradley were let go, now most of the others have. They weren't good enough anyway, and there's a lot of new players and good under 17's that need to step up. Fitzharris, Towell, Forrest, Tidser and Hughes were the only really good players. Santonocito wasnt up to much I didnt think.

Exactly, this stuff happens every season, don't know why the media have made a huge deal out of this.

Simply because they can, they don't need a valid reason for writing a so called bad news story (not that I'm being paranoid or anything :86:)

i,m afraid football can be tough and the new team mccart and co have decided those lads not good enough hopefully for them they can prove themseves elsewhere mccarts job is to have the best plyers at that age and help them progress through the ranks hes came to the conclusion the lads freed are not good enough to progress at celtic and will bring in replacements he hopes will progress thats his job and some times football can be ruthless but he must do what he thinks is best for celtic at that level

McCart has done the right thing the 19's have done fuckall in 2 years,,and by the way it was only 12 players that got the chop as he sees more future in the u17's and new signings,,remember that a lot of these players are on £16-25,000 pounds a year!!!

I wish Strachan was as ruthless, players need a bit of fear.

If they were let go, then they were deemed to be not good enough.

I just hope that McCart has a good eye, normally a few will bite you on yer *.

Like swapping Mulgrew for Naylor + money.

Do people not realize that this happens every year?
Thier youth contracts are up, they're not good enough, so they're let go. There are younger players to move into the U19s, we're not getting rid of the youth teams.
