HI there, just been informed from a 'Very' reliable source that Bertie Auld, one of the greatest players ever to pull on the hoops has been banned from Celtic TV. I believe this to be true? has anyone else heard this?

I havent heard the full story yet, but apparently he has been banned because he was slagging some of the current team, players apparently mentioned where McManus, Naylor, Big Jan and another few. I will try to find out the full story, but would just like to know if anyone else has heard this? Whats your thoughts and opinons?

Having met Bertie Auld - I believe this man to be honest, sincere and doesn't give a flying * about individuals - the only thing that matters to him is the club and thank * there are still people like him around.

It's a pity Jim Craig and Billy McNeill have sold out a long time ago - I would rather listen to Bertie any day.

As for being banned from Celtic TV - not sure if I believe it but i'll watch this space.

Well well it just gets better and better doesn't it? Every single time i've seen this man speaking he's spoke straight from the heart and always always get's it 100% right. It's guys like Bertie Auld who have put this club on the map and his opinion should always be valued no matter who is in charge of Celtic.

If its true, it will be a disgrace. Legends like him know football and the team should not be avoided of critism

I don't want to make any judgements without hearing some actual quotes, but if he did say anything negative about our players he deserves it.

Just for giving his opinions probably..first and foremost, Bertie is fan..he is entitled to it. Baffling that a Celtic Legend is banned from his own clubs TV..we just have to wait and see.

He's a Celtic legend but I've heard and read that he is a horrible, cold person. Not very tactful when is comes to being a pundit either.

So, you want a Celtic TV to be like the old "Pravda" Celtic View in the 80's?

Why even have a Celtic TV, Celtic View or any kind of media if it's all going to be propaganda and quite frankly a load of bullshit? It needs to be constructive and honest and if Bertie Auld says some of our players are a load of * - then all I can say is well done Bertie.

McManus being the captain of this club is an insult. Sometimes it takes former greats to say these things for change to take place. If we all adapt the Pravda stance - we just keep on trodding along, accepting the same old * and where everyone knows it - but is afraid to say it.

    * that.

Well I can tell you first hand that THAT is a load of bullshit.

Of course he may have been cold and horrible to some people in his time - aren't we all? But as a general rule, no - that is not Berie Auld.

He has the club at heart, that's for sure.

Good post! Did anyone hear the celtic underground podcast a wee while ago when he was talking to matt mcglone. Mcglone was sayin that after writing in the celtic view critiscising a couple players that people tried to hound him out of his job. If the same sort of think is happening to bertie then that is shocking. What is the point in writing/saying something that is not true.

It's all in here from a player's point of view. Shocking way to treat players but really funny in a strange sort of way also. Great stories in this book and if anybody wants a copy, let me know as I've got two for some reason.

Bertie was Roughie's manager at Partick incase some folks never knew.

I remember reading at the time that Stephane Mahe was almost squaring up to McGlone for comments he wrote and another player had to intervene.

McGlone said that it wasn't easy having to report on your heroes and I can understand that.

i know that but you said you read and heard he was cold and horrible and i said if he was like that at all he would'nt be as popular as he is and would'nt keep getting invited to all these functions all the time..

And again my reaction is - he is popular because he is a Celtic legend.

Celtic TV is pish anyway, I only watch it for the football. You hardly ever get an honest opinion on it. If they were being honest they would say its the worst team in years and thats the truth.
