At the start of the season Davie Provan wrote an article that was absoloutely spot on. He said that the signins (or rather lack of) that celtic had made could come back and haunt us. Rangers had just lost Cuellar , lost to Kuanas BUT while we were all laughing Rangers DID spend money And they DID strengthen thier team. We got out of jail last season by winning title on last day , I think it was unforgiveable not to build on a poor team who so narrowly won the league. Do celtic never learn from past mistakes, we never build from a position of strength.WHY?

I like most fans welcomed Strachan when he came and all this pish about us not liking him because he isn't Celtic minded is the Media taking the * out of us. We dont like him NOW for so many reasons, Bad signings, bad tactics , twisted personality (Bobo, Riordan McGeady (not for suspending him but leaving him out last week etc etc) , continually insulting the fans........ I could go on.

Peter Lawell needs to take a long hard look at himself and where we are right now. Rangers are financially on their knees but could well be scotlands sole representatives in the champions league next year!!! I could write a book right now im so pig sick but heres the hardest one for me to swallow there are still some celtic fans who have green tinted specs when it comes to strachan and celtic , wake up and smell the coffee guys. The board will continue to back him if they think we're behind him because hes just a yes man to the board and is happy not to spend money. We know we cant match english premiership signins (find it insulting to be told that by lawell) we aint stupid we know we cant shop in Harrods but surely we can shop in Tescos or dare i say it M + S now and again as oppose to farm foods and Lidl.

The league wasnt lost today at Easter road it was lost at the start of the season by the board and a lot of Green tinted spec fans who need to wise up!! No Title , NO champions League ? And Strachan still at the helm next season? NOT ACCEPTABLE!! :31:

    Good post :50:

Its easy to be a smart * in hindsight, but a lot of the points that you've mentioned have been brought up here on countless occasions since the final whistle went at Tannadice last may.

Through history, we've had the huns on their knees on countless occasions but have let them sneak back in with their little rat claws through lack of investment and complacency.

    We never learn.

So true and unforgivable. We had the chance to bury the huns for a good few years, that chance has gone. The domination has ended.

good quote that broadsword!and so true..if we had 11 fans playing every week and we were this bad..i would honestly be happier than i am.We would have 11 of our own out and willing to do anything for the jersey which i would much rather have.Sadly we have maybe 3 or 4 players that feel the same. The gap between the man in the stand and the man on the pitch is growing ever larger.

We dont have much money to spend on players. The huns can do what they like they could spend £100m if they wanted this summer and there's nothing we could do. The sentiment is right in what your saying but we dont have the money to get much better than we are.

    fantastic thread

celtic * up the day they signed strachan, strachan desimated the mon squad who knew how to play for the hoops, getting rid of so much of those players brought an end to the passion in the team, a celtic man needs to come in with that passion and hunger again

mate, we might not have much, but I am sure we have more than we have been spending. I cannot accept that we dont have much money as an excuse.

I understand that we dont have much money to spend, but we would have much more money to play with if we cut down on the amount we spend on squad players.

    Excellent post mate.

Has anyone else noticed how after the 4-2loss to Aberdeen, 1-0 loss huns, 0-0 draw Hibs. Strachan has basically said there is nothing wrong here, we dominated possesion, its not my fault etc etc.

If you lose 4 goals to Aberdeen then yes I think something did go wrong. If Steven Davis was unmarked in a box with 3 or 4 defenders to score the winning goal of an Old Firm, again something is wrong there.

crackin post. i dont buy into this debt free club stuff either, that alright if you are a falkirk or st mirren or hamilton. big clubs all have debt, the trick is to keep it managable not like the huns. the board and too many WGS fans are spinning this idea that if we spend any money at all we will be on the brink of bankruptcy which is simply not true. the do just enough strategy of the board has fallen flat on its * this year

If I win the Euro lotto and got over a 100mil and had the chance to buy into Celtic I would.

Obviously nothing much will chance in the front of finance as it is now apart from the fact that I would go into my own money If needed to buy players .

I would not be taking a wage unless it was for taxation reasons which I don't think is needed, that would be just giving the tax man some of Celtics money in my eyes for no reason. My reason for coming to work every day, sorry coming to dreamland everyday would be enough incentive for me to do the best I could for the club I live and breath.

My main aim would be to buy a team better the the one across the City to get into the Champions league every year.

I would have personally asking the manager why he hasn't found a left back as of yet as I have money reading and waiting for him. Not talking mad money here but enough to get someone better than we have now.

The trend on all of my opinions is clear to see, I want the best for Celtic and it is clear to me that the board are happy to just stay afloat, with taking massive salaries into the bargain.

I would not go daft with the 100 mil but I would take Few risks in the process to achieve success , but most of all it would be noticed that I was not there to just do a job.
