Caldwell's contract

Correct me if i'm wrong but isn't Caldwell coming to the end of his contract soon? I know there was some sort of one year option but has that been activated as i haven't noticed that it has.

Surely we should be getting this guy on a new four year deal anyway?

 

I hope we get him signed up

Tried (and failed) to find the latest article i read - in an ideal world, it would have been sorted by now, but they are sitting down at the table to formalise a new deal in the Summer. The idea i got was that january onwards was a very disruptive time of the season to be discussing it.

 

Surely they'll renew it, unless we get some big * offer that we can't refuse.

 

I'm sure i read that contract talks were on hold till the end of the season , Caldwells being one of those

 

Me too - read it soon after he won his writer's player of the year award (actual quotes from Strachan as well), but i can't find the fecking article!!

 

That seems a bit strange if the guy's contract runs out at th eend of this season though doesn't it?

 

It doesn't though mate - the one year extension was activated, and the long-term new deal is being discussed in the Summer:

Cool, emergency over! I knew he had an option for one more year but wasn't sure if it had been taken.

 

Doubt very much that he'd leave. He doesn't seem interested in joining another club, he hasn't been mouthing off either personally or through agents.

I think he must also be aware of his limitations as a player. He'll never be of interest to big clubs in England, so he knows that Celtic is going to be as good as it gets for him.

New contract will be signed in the summer after title is decided.

 

He won't leave, that's for sure. He'll renew in summer.

 

I think that McManus and VoH will be away in the summer which will mean Caldwell will be captain for the next few years.

The is NO chance that Mick will be leaving in the summer. Sadly i think there is only a 50% chance that VoH will leave also.

 

He'll be our main man at the back for a years to come, I'm sure the contract will be all sown up in the off season.

 

im all for wanting heid to sign a longer deal !

he wants to stay with the hoops anyway i think he had an interveiw not that long ago stateing that. the same goes for broony! get him on a longer contract?

 

Id say a three year deal with option to sign on to a 4th after 1st season!

 

He has a year to go with the option of a further year but the club have yet to take it up as far as I'm aware, There was talk about it in January but the club have cancelled all talks until the season is finished if I'm right ?
