PS3 is Fucked

theres a workround that i discovered (me and me alone, im responsible for this, i havent found it anywhere on the net)

i put the game in, nothing came up, so i thought il play one of the games stored on the hardrive (it works with demos also), let the game load a bit, pressed the ps button on the pad to bring up the xmb, leave it for a second then the disc appears on the screen and you can load it from there, it works 100%

 

I had to claim mine on house insurance mate as the shop I got mine from went bust (woolworths) £50 excess, but better than nought.

ALso sold my busted one on eBay for spares/repairs managed to get £35 for it, so all in all cost me £15

sorry to hear about the ps3! lol its like a small death in the family eh?
if you have a reciept of purchase, or anything to prove you bought it new and not second hand...you can phone sony and they should send a replacement regardless of warranty length.
No bullshit...check a few months back in the games section and you'll see mine packed in also, and i had no warranty! and they still sent me a brand spanking new ps3! lol but what Sony don't want you to know is as long as its an internal problem, they have a lifetime garuntee with 99.999/5 of thier products.

give em a phone and do some major complaining m8

 

That will be my final option if this restore fails, and I will be getting tore right in to them.

I've had PS1, PS2, PS2 slimline, I've bought 5 psps over the years only 1 of which I still have that works. I have two ps3's 1 for me n one for the bhoys. I've purchased 4 controllers for the ps3 at no small cost and reguarly use the ps store. I have a right to argue :icon_mrgreen:

If it is an internal prob that they are aware of I will be pushing for a replacement like you, at no cost

I'm a Playstation man, I couldn't switch now. Everyone I know is on PSN and I've never had any probs with it before. I'll get this sorted and be back online soon enough. * moving to xbox

Heres a trick, try turning it off from the switch at the back, hold down (touch whatever) the on button, keep the finger on it, then turn the button from the back on and it should do some dust cleansing thing fro the insides which is meant to sort the problem.

i just rang playstation and they'll come and collect it and within a few days its returned free of charge

 

This happened to my ps2 m8. Bought acan of fresh air from Maplin and blasted it in where the disc goes to clean the dust and it worked perfect after that. Could be worth atry with the PS3

 

ps3s are awful thats why

 

my cousin has this problem, think he gave it back to sony or where he bought it from and got it fixed for free, or even just got a new one

 

I blame swine flu.
