here we go again. Our main striker is back on a plane on Monday off to Oz to play Uzbekistan in World Cup qualifier. Will the gaffer waste Skippy's time again like a few weeks ago against Japan? This worries me with so many important games coming up that Celtic FC will be risking our title defence to let Skip go.:shamrock::shamrock::shamrock::shamrock:

I would rather he went and didnt play than going and playing, no chance of injury that way.

Without meaning to sound too pedantic, there is still a chance of injury even if he's not playing. He could fall down a set of stairs for example. Less likely, but still a possibility.

Looks like he's going to be playing. Just read in the Sydney Daily Telegraph an interview with coach Pim Verbeek that he plans to abandon his plan to play Cahill as an out & out striker after the failure against Japan & give Skippy a chance.

I pity players who have to travel so much to represent their countries. I can imagine that Naka has racked up a lot of airmiles since he arrived here....

Im in Australia and Scotty's vastly underrated by Pim VerBeek(aussie coach) and the Aussies in general.
You should have heard the Aussie panelist slagging the Celtic Huns cup final game,It was way way over the top,you would have been forgiven for believing it was the worst game of all time, there arrogance would make Will Carling and Simon Cowell seem humble,I kid you not.
Unfortunately these guys are the voice of football in this Country and would rather sit through a Hull V Wigan game than say anything positive about Scotland,It gets on my goat big time.

is it from Aberdeen by any chance?:97:

    lol

The aussie media sounds just like the English media from what you are saying. Think the prem is the be all and end all of world football when there are only 6 decent teams in it.

One of them was a guy that went on trial at der huns during there glory spell in the 90s and was rejected "Craig Foster" and the other is "Les Murray", a guy from hungry who chose (quite ironically) a Scottish surname to fit into Australian culture rather than his real name László Ürge.

I have watched Celtic defeat Manchester,Juventus,ACMilan,Liverpool etc etc and never heard these so-called football experts give Celtic or any Scottish team any credit whatsoever for there achievements,It beggars belief at times,They are on Australia's version of Channel 4 which is SBS,Ive sent many emails(as have just about every Scottish football fan)and now im convinced they do it because they know itll get a reaction, its partly these guys why i spent a fortune in getting Setanta installed so i didnt have to listen to the pish they spit, except on Sunday night(aussie time) Setanta where showing Rugby and the only TV channel that had the game on live was SBS,I dreaded it and it did partially ruin the game for me,worst thing about it though was me telling the aussies to stay up and watch it,only for these pair of twits to bring our game down big time and give it terrible publicity

Right, their are a few inaccuracies here.

    1) Jolly Green Giant, Craig Foster and Les Murray would love to think they're the voice of football here, but they're not. The footballing community pays no attention to them. The two of them think all football games should be Liverpool vs Chelsea/Brazil V Italy quality. They've long been disproven as being a force here. Unfortunately football is a sleeping giant here (although it is awakening) and the two man you refer too actually stifled the A-League and FFA's attempts to get the A-League and Socceroos games onto free-to-air, meaning we all have Foxtel so we can see the A-league, Australian games, and EPL.

However, your comments about their commentary were spot on. Pathetic. I turned them down and went to the toilet while they were speaking.

Now, will skippy play? I actually think he will. Kennedy is injured, while Kewell is a 50/50 prospect even when fit. That is all Verbeek has picked in the way of forwards, I hope he is picked. I haven't been over to paradise to see him play since he signed for us, although I did see him in a Motherwell shirt against us once.

He'd better...I have tickets primarily to see him play and plan on wearing my Celtic top with McDonald and 7 on the back rather than my Aussie top.

I also called them so called football experts,Murray started on SBS as a hungarian translator,as Wikipedia tells it,however as you know a * of a lot of aussies know nothing about "soccer" and staying up listening to that crap wasnt good for the overall perception of the game in Scotland

I don't have a problem with Skippy going home to play for his country. Unlike some players who's already thrown their dummy out the pram...

Of course he should play for his country it's just rather annoying that he has to travel so far with all these important games coming up, last time was a complete waste of time for him.

Talk in Sydney today is that he will either play up front with Kewell or will be on in the 60th min as a replacement for Kewell, either way He better play.

While this is a big game in the sense that we could qualify for the World Cup if we win, it is against Uzbekistan so it's not a huge fixture like out 2005 WC cup qual against Uruguay. Besides, I have tickets primarily to see him ( as I've never seen him play in a Celtic top), which caused alot of trouble as I meant to be taking the year 7's on camp but I said no to go to this.
