    Hello,

today I received a letter that disturbed me somewhat, so I need help from any forum member who is living, or used to live in Spain, preferably Madrid.

Here's what I'd like to know:

Is there an address in Madrid such as: Juan de Urbieta 17-3 C2 L8, and have you ever heard of the legal firm called "Carlos Martinez & Associates, senior advocate".
I suppose their HQ should be on the said address.

    Thank you!

Did some checking. Street exists. Only company of that name is in La Coruña. Not Madrid.

Possibly trying to get money from you? I wouldn't trust it tbh. Here's the yellow pages link.

    Thanks AO!

I've got this feeling as well, I've found their adresses in Sta Pola (or something), then in Alicante, but not in Madrid, and yet, they claim their HQ is there.

    Croation.
There is a Carlos Martinez abogados in Elche who serves all the surrounding area around Alicante.
It is possible he could be registered in Madrid.

Also why would they send you a letter in Croatia?

Also also, Torrevieja near Alicante is a base for East European money laundering operations, particularly from Ukraine and Russia.

    Thanks guys.

What really interests me know is, if they are some obscure legal firm, or an established one?
In other words, can they be trusted?

I say never trust any lawyers, they are all legalised gangsters.

Don't trust them. Are they asking you for money or account details? Or is it a job offer?

    None of those actually.

They claim to need my consent to present me as the next of kin to a deceased person so that something he deposited can be opened and then spread 50-50 between us.

Needless to say, I never heard of anyone involved.

    Be very vert carefull.
The law in Spain is very strange to say the least, you admit to being next of kin to someone you will be liable for any debts they may have had also death duties.

Santa Pola is the next town along from Torrevieja, about a half hour drive from Alicante.

Just one more thing I'd like to point out.

I've posted this inquiry on several forums that I'm regular on, and the only 1 I've got any coherent response was this one!

Which only goes to prove that the Bhoys fans are the best lot around!!!:50::shamrock:

    Thanks again!

Mate, that sounds like a definite scam. Did you get a letter from them through normal mail?

It's similar to those emails you'd about someone paying large sums of money if you help them. Stay clear of that.
