We could have had the upper hand but watching the huns recently mate, there better than us!!!! we have a stronger squad but there playing much better, and were struggling, a couple of signings would have gave the players a kick up the * instead they know there places are safe week after week!!!!

This was my post, i didnt say any cost it would be foolish to spend money we dont have.

    Chiv said "at least £5M"

Let me put it to you this way...

Would you be happy with the board if they sanctioned the signing of a player in excess of say £4M that they fully believed, from scouting etc, werent going to "realistically bring something to our squad". Would you be happy with that sort of approach by our board? I * wouldnt.

yes he did say at least 5 mil...."at least" is alot different from"at any cost".

why would the board sign someone who is not going to bring something to the squad? who would be happy, thats a daft question tbh.

As long as we get 1 decent striker and a left back in the summer I think that we can take on anything the SPL can throw at us. The youth of our side guarantee's us longevity if we had a couple more good established players to guide them then we can go on for 5 in a row. It's nice to know the rug isn't gonna be pulled from under us due to finances unlike others.

For now I think we have the squad to take this league.

No I'd be unhappy if they werent convinced that that the reward was worth the risk.

I'd be worried if they were spending huge amount of money and they werent convinced at the time that they were getting a player that reflects the cost.

In hindsight if they turn out good or bad is another thing. I'm talking about the boards intentions here and you know exactly what I was saying so dont be twisting my words

Lawwell didnt believe alot of the potential signings in January were worth the risk and I'll back him as he's done wonders for Celtic since he came here and there is no reason to doubt him now.

I'm glad Lawwell et al are being cautious with our money to be honest. We don't need a white elephant as a millstone around our necks. No need to jump in.

Dannighirl good to c ya on this one :50::86:

The OP is about Celtic's interim results to December 31st 2008.

You cant argue about the Facts of the Operational Highlights.

but heres some things for you to answer:

2 defeats in the last 9 games
beat the huns away from home
scored twice as many goals as Hearts
HUns have lost and drawn MORE games than us.
5 pts in CL would have qualified us for UEFA cup from Groups D & H
FC Basel, CRF Cluj, PSV, Feyenoord, Steaua Bucharest, FC Bate Borisov all had less points than Celtic in the CL groups stages

WHICH PART TAMSTER IS NOT TRUE PLEASE

I obviously read the initial post and quote that and was responding to that. I didnt realise that you edited it until now.

People are complaining that Celtic didnt sign players in January but I've seemingly asked a daft question? Is their reason not good enough or it "daft"?

Seems some people are being unrealistic

It is and they didnt find anyone within their means that would improve the squad. Why is that sooo hard for people to accept?

It isnt the first time or the last time this will happen

Your inability to use the quote function is more worrying than the current form of Celtic. How do you * up something so simple? I'm just amazed that you can never make it work properly :56:
