They were in a European final a matter of months ago, they aren't as bad as we'd like to think they are.

A Celtic forum isn't the best place to gauge how poor Rangers are.

Because we never strenghtend our squad in the positions needed that every fan could see now wether thats down to lawell knowing about the present crisis and could see what effect it would have on us spending ??

At least we will be debt free but will it be at the expence of CL football which could cost us dearly getting financially ahead even more.

To be honest, the spark has went out in our play. no one controls the game, theres a lack of creativity, but the thing is, the players we have, CAN provide it. The answer isnt replacing them, its getting them to play to their ability, and that is something Strachan has to work on as the manager. His role is to ensure the team get the results, but also that players we are paying 20 odd grand a week to, perform. I dont think there is any harm in supporters who plug their money into celtic having ther say about how things are going, its our club, and if we aint happy and make comments, it doesnt make us any less of a fan. Yes, we could go out and spend 5 mill on a player, but in the current climate, it would be foolish and could lead to major problems further down the line. bringing in youth is the best option and the most sensible one just now. And for the guys that say "I dont care about finances, I just want us to get some decent names in and play great football" sadly, finances dictate everything that happens at the club and thats something people have to accept.

Have to agree with you mate. Absolutely true!! Many people here cannot seem to see the truth that this team is the shittest we have seen since the early 90s or possibly 80s. It is evident that Strachan is not good enough so please, no more threads on how good Stachan has been, at least not until he ACTUALLY gets us 4-in-a-row.

I know his funds are limited compared to MON, but its not an excuse. Over the 3-4 years he has been here, he has spent somewhere in the region of 20-25 million. And with that money what has he done with it. We are coming to the end of Naka's reign and I realise that the only decent outfied player he bought is gonna leave soon and so basically in the 4 years he has been here he has not made much progress. Yes he won the league etc, etc, but against the shittest huns side ever!!!

With 20-25 million over 3-4 years, I think he has tried and got nowhere...just look at his signings. He has wasted it on the likes of Gravesen, Donati, Hinkel, Samaras, Robson, Hartley, Flood (LOL), McCourt (Double LOL), McGinn, Naylor , Killen, etc...I mean whats the point in buying rubbish SPL or Irish Legue players!!
I would give away McCourt, McGinn, Flood, Sheridan, Killen in exhange for one decent player.

We are pish poor and thats the bottom line! Strachan had his go, now someone else should have his!

Think youre being pretty harsh there mate. You say that you dont want to hear about 3 in a row etc, but how do you measure a managers performance? On results. and I have my own reservations about WGS but facts are facts and he has done well in his time here, both in the league and Europe. That cant be debated. The performances have been poor and that is something that needs to be addressed. and he has to be the one that gets the performances outa the players. but the players do have the ability! Brown, Naka, McGeady, Maloney, Robson, Crosas are all talented midfielders that on their day would give most midfields a run for their money. and if samaras is up for it, hes great, so is skippy. All thats needed is motivation and gettin the passion back in our play, not a new manager. and your list of crap players...you seem to forget Naka, Boruc, Robson, Brown, Caldwell, McDonald, Crosas, Maloney were brought in and i think they done ok, dont you?!?!?!

It's difficult to argue against the people who are disappointed with our football just now, after all that's exactly what our football is, disappointing.

The problem for me however, is that I'm not convinced these calls are purley based on the football we are playing. Even at the high points of Strachan's time in charge, there were many voices who were dissenting.

It's therefore fairly obvious that ANY bad run of form would have a small cacophony of torch-carriers prepared to run him out of town claiming they were right all along. But I don't buy it.

Sure, we've blown a seven point lead, sure we've missed good chances to spring ten points clear but if you're going to paint situations to suit your own agenda, you cannot ignore plain an simple facts. We are on the top of the table and have won it the past three seasons.

I' would never expect to turnarond any anti-Strachanite with the above arguments, after all it's the tried and trusted one used by supporters who are "not against" WGS (note the absense of "pro") but rather it asks temperance of a situation and the understanding that it could be, and has frequently been, much, much worse.

I'll judge Strachan at the end of the season, and right now he would have to engineer the most monumental of *-ups for me to not want him to stay on.:shamrock:

I agree with Markybhoy. This is CELTIC FOOTBALL CLUB as Tommy (RIP) would say. There are certain standards that MUST be maintained. The club has been going in reverse for years and, regardless of the money situation, surely we can serve up a better standard than that PISH on Sunday. Too many excuses by the do gooders. Maybe the team has forgotten what an honor it is to have that badge on their chest. Well, its up to us, the fans, to remind them. And if that means a few home truths are aired, so be it...

my own opinion is too many fans are saying nothin bcoz the club financially is sound.if the board would push the boat out a wee bit and bought a couple of real quality players we would probably be playing a lot better we would more than 2 points ahead of a * rangers team and guarantee the league.that would gives us champion league money and could really leave them behind but its like well just do enough to stay ahead.thatsnot good enough for celtic fans were not asking for the club to run up huge debt were looking for better than were getting.

"Pushing the boat out" doesnt guarantee a quality player e.g. Gravesen

I dont want to see us push the boat out again. More than half the time it doesn't come off. That is not a good ratio.
