LENNON: I May Leave Celts in Summer..

Celtic Captain Neil Lennon admits this season could be his last at the club.
The 34-year-old's current contract is due to expire in the summer and Lennon said: "If the club want to come to me in January and review it,then great,but,if not,I am quite happy to see things through to the end of the season.
"I want to be a winning captain and getting the Title back is my main priorty."

Personally This must have something to do with-Roy Keane why would Lenny come out now with this bhoys he must know something but not allowed to say anything,The whole story bhoys is in Todays Celtic View

 

I Love Neil Lennon. Maybe it has nothing to do with Keane, and maybe he just feels like retiring? He's done so much for Celtic, it would be sad to see him go.

I'd rather have Lennon anyday.

 

Lennon has been fantastic for Celtic this season but i think he knows that he cant go on at this level much longer and wants to leave on a high,and Strachen has already stated that he wants to bring the average age of the team down so Roy Keane comming to Celtic is a non starter, in my opinion it is time to look to the future and bring in younger players to enhance the club for the future.

 

im going to cry! sad news. i was sooooo happy when i read on the celtic website that he was looking for an extension. i want lenny to stay at celtic, the way he's been playing is the best hes been, he really suits this new style of play. i dont no wat ill do with out my bhoy! no one else for number 18 except lennon! and keane can stay in england with money if it means lenny will leave!! gutted..

I found it strange for him to come out and say this but I wouldn't read too much into it. If he maintains good form then I see no reason not to offer him another years extention. Whats he on per week?

I think your overeacting, he was just point out the worst case scenario and I think there would be a backlash from the fans if the club was tried to offload Lennon for Keane.

Maybe he's treating it like his last season to keep motivated and go out on a high by winning the treble. He could be in that frame of mind.

 

He has always said that this season will be his last unless the club offer him an extension and he feels he can still contribute something.

So absolutely nothing has changed.

 

I think Neil should be offered a deal for 1 extra year he can play till he's 35-36 no problem cause he's never been fast anyway and is good at The defensive Midfield role.

 

would hate to seen Lennon go because hes been great this season

think this is lennon's last season. i like lennon but all good things must come to an end. where one door closes another opens i say. so i hope we can get a worthy replacement in the summer

 

The guy is a legend and unlike Kean not a money grabber. Offer him a new contract and its up to Lennon if he stays or retires.

 

After paying Lambo for a year with no return we must be careful as Lenny will still want a decent wage.

Maybe a pay as you play contract?

 

Hope he moves on at the end of the season myself, don't get me wrong a like Lennon, he's done well for us in the past, but a just think he's a bit past it, just think he's past it in Europe and in the SPL, for most games is not needed. TBH a think the reason a lot of fans want him to stay is because he's "one of us", a would keep him on as a coach but no on as player, think his wages could be put to better use imo.
