You're entitled to your opinion and you won't get blasted for saying it here if you post it in a sane manner like you have done above. But remember that all the mods and admin are also fans with their own opinion, there is no party line.

You must also have noticed that many other fans have expressed concern in this thread about the GB's activity, so it is not a cut and dried majority who appreciate them.

And for another poster who thinks this site is anti-Irish? That is a lot of pish, TC is owned by an Irish Celtic supporter ffs and 3 out of 5 admin are Irish.

In my opinion Celtic is more than just a football club. The club comes from Irish roots, Irish who suffered oppression in their own country. What's problem with demonstrating sympathy with others who share this plight - the Basques, Palestinians etc...

Anyway, that's not the issue. The issue is that Club and the Police are tryng to suppress the GB by taking flags and drums from supporters while threatening them with bans / arrest etc.... Ridiculous. For what reason, I don't know? - could it be John Reid's call?

well if you don't like it don't take the flags, simple, i don't take any flags with me to any tic games, and i don't get any hassle, this tells me you all bring it on yourselves, we are going to watch football, so what ever political views you hold or wish to show, it isn't wanted or required at a football match.

    get the GB out

No, you don't. Celtic make the rules when it comes to their property, if you don't want to obey it, they can tell you to * off.

"Football without fans is nothing". If fans want to take a basque/tricolour/palestine flag into the game with them, why shouldn't they not be allowed ?

I guarantee it wasn't a simple case of after an hour they simply decided to take the drum away or after an indefinite amount of time they decided to remove banners as well.

This is exactly the same as the time when we were guaranteed people were being removed from the stadium for leaving in protest the week before and that stewards had been told to kick those people out by the club who had been using cameras to spy on them. In the end it came to light all that happened was folk were moving to sit beside the GB and when they were told to beat it and refused to they were asked to leave.

There's some amount of paranoia and blame complex circling the group imo.

Freedom of speech is OK to a certain extent. If I own a pub and I tell you no smoking and don't wear football colours, are you gonna tell me to * off and do it anyway?

Good point I suppose. Of course I'd obey but don't you think Celtic are being unreasonable with their demands ? Surely if theres no Basque or palestinian flags allowed then national flags should be banned full stop ?

It's not the flags that bother Celtic. It's the reasoning for taking the flags.

Basque isn't a country really, lets be honest. It's a bit of a controversial region in Spain and France. People take these flags in a political sense, lets not kid ourselves.

Why do the GB not take Brazil flags and Mexico flags? Why do they take the flags of little regions which are highly controversial and political.

Zeyn says he takes it because of Margaret, then he contradicts himself and says he takes it because of his father. Does your father know Margaret? Does the whole GB know her? Of course not.

The main flags that we see at CP are Ireland flags because of the simple reason that our club has strong Irish roots and a large number of Irish fans.Scotland flags are becomind a bit more common at games in the last few years for obvious reasons.

In years past flags of Sweeden ,Poland , Japan and Brazil have been flown by supporters in homage to our star players once again supporters have a valid reason for this.I still have not seen a valid reason for the brandishing of palestine or basque flags inside CP

Argubaly people take the tricolour along to matches not for the clubs roots but in support of their struggle. Personally I don't think thats the case but still a theory. I don't think flags do any harm tbh and they've been brought along for years. Why are people fussing over it now ? Imo it's just another reaosn to criticise the GB. Although it's not just them that take them..

so,tell me this,as mentioned we bring flags of nations whose players played for us,so if the celts sign an israeli player, could i bring the star of david flag,i mean we had berkovic,i can imagine the totally democratic response of the green brigade if i unveiled a star of david in support of an israeli player, the way polish and swedish flags h

i said in another post about the victim mentality among sections of the celtic support, and ill tell you what, its getting worse,,week after week its rent a cause with some of them, palestine, ireland, basques, hizbollah, poppygate, you name it they will shame the club with it,we are a football club and a sporting institution, the people at the top have to think of the clubs image internationally,as thats an important aspect of todays game, and if the moneys not coming in it limits us even more,,imagine trying to sell us in the states or europe,or anywhere thats been blighted by terrorism, and some journalist gets hold of fotos of the gb with palestinian flags, basque flags, video footage of fans singing ira songs,oh well lovely image that one, here is a terrorist supporting club whos support are all rabid dogs,,,,how do the silent majority get across that we arent like that at all,its just the tin pot revolutionaries who embarrass us that are the crackpots
