it is true that we Celts consider our club to be unique and a family enriched with special cultural roots whose connections come from a lyrical and musical heritage.

    so,

why do we get the mind numbing ska pish when we score a goal? the same garbage that is trotted out throughout the whole of the uk. it is nothing other than a disgrace. are we catering for a society that need simple uniformity to guide them through their talentless hopeless lifes? well, we are Celtic supporters and we are not hopeless and talentless. we have wider horizons than the dumbasses who can only celebrate with tunes with no lyrics!

Celtic FC must be one of the most celebrated football clubs in the world through music, with many many household names in the music world counted amongst our support aside from the countless songs dedicated solely to ur beloved club.

the "fiesta" goal celebration was good if you prefer popular music and equally the intro to the celtic song is good enough for me if we so desperately require the razzamataz after our bhoys have stuck one in the pokey

of all the musical goal tunes, the best by far was the magnificent seven but sadly we will never ever see the likes of henrik in our hoops again

if the diddy who spins the mp3's in paradise reads this, just give us Celtic songs please for we are different from other football fans and we dont want to be associated with them through this common as muck * goal celebration tune

You think its bad in Celtic Park, you should try listen to the pa system in croke park for ireland internationals, it would actualy put you off going.

I totally agree with blackfish And ehy does it have to be so * loud.

My main gripe on this topic is, when we win the league, or at Hampden when we win a cup. I dont need to be prompted by some second rate DJ for what song to sing. I actually fear now that spontanious singing is becoming a distant memory and half the people inside the ground need a PA system to know what to do.

having the privelage of being associated with Celtic is about more than just football, it is an identity steeped in strong socio political foundations, one of which is not to be dragged down into the mire of others for we can celebrate more than just football.

the late great Tommy Burns said as much about the "cause"

we should be able to think for ourselves and and not be the same as all the other dross that populate the football world

the celtic identity is weakened by these idiots in the booth and the dimwits who control the celtic view. proof of which is the use of websites such as this as a forum for Celtic fans to discus many things to do with our great club. i have tried on many occasions to go through official channels to put an end to the * coming from that soundbooth. on one of our championship days i had to leave my seat and go upstairs and tell the guy to get proper Celtic songs on the tannoy or he would face revolt.

some of his * repetoire includes

    come over to my place
we are the champions (which by now every person in the world knows cannot be sung by football fans who will never hit the high notes and they dont know the effing words to the verses in between)
    one more time

    etc etc

for the Celts to party it is easy to invoke emotion and one which makes us special

    The Celtic Song
    YNWA
Celtic Celtic (thats the team for me)
    Over and Over
    Celtic are Here
    The Fields of Athenry
    Let the People Sing
    The Celtic Symphony

to name but a few of the classics

my own favourite these days is the artur boruc song!

catching my drift here? Celtic songs in our environment. we are the victims of sectarianism everywhere else we go, but this is our home and we should have a * good party in it every two weeks

and part of that is the celebration of goals and we should be above the rancid pish played at other places such as ibrox and other hun outfits throughout scotland

He speaks of a 'cause'. The club's social mission statement includes the fact that there is 'no political agenda'.

    i am missing your point

are you suggesting that we listen to * music to integrate into modern gutter society?

are you suggesting that the mission statement distances itself from what i have said?

    if so, let me clarify

by socio politcial, i am referring to the fact that a vast proportion of our support will be from working class backgrounds who have strong socialist beliefs in the good of the common man and with the inclusion of everyone to benefit from success on an equal basis

i dont beleive that cuses offence to anyone, even a strong right wing conservative whose only argument with that statement is that they believe that it wont work, so

i have no specific interest in any other reference to what many perceive of the Celtic fans leaning in "Irish Politics"

what we cannot deny and must not stray from the point in this thread is that the tannoy announcer music after a goal is scored is crap.

if you disagree with me then fqair enough but please do not infer that i am not aware of the inclusive nature of our great club, however it does smack of hypocrisy from sections of the club as they milk every last penny out of the irish connection and all the connotations associated with that.

all i want is Celtic songs at Celtic park for Celtic fans to create our own unique atmosphere

that ska nonsense is played at ibrox ! is that what we want to be associated with?

the cause i mention is in relation to comments made by many great Celts

we follow a unique club which has been victimised by the authorities (proved in a court of law by Fergus McCann) so yes our "cause" is to be victorious against the odds for our Celtic family

now can we get back to the point?

I wasn't entirely sure what you meant. Thanks for clearing it up.

To be honest, I'm not too fussy with the music that is played through the PA system. As long as the fans are singing football songs, I'm happy.

As did Tommy Burns in the first page of "Twists and Turns"

The mission statement was made in 1995, a helluva lot went on before then, I dont think quoting the mission statement is valid to what the guy is saying mate tbh.

Goal music is a crime, no matter what grounds it's played on.

It's more suited to the North American sports stadiums and not for football grounds in the UK.

Fair enough, play songs that are linked with a club before the game (Forever blowing bubbles, You'll never walk alone, Z-Cars etc) but leave it out when a goal goes in...

Hampden is by far the worst!

Felt like I had turned up at some rave party as the teams walked out the tunnel. I dont think they have updated their collection since the early 90s.
