Firstly Strachan (or O'Neill) doesn't have anything to do with the wages.

Secondly if the board didn't trust Strachan he would have been sacked a long time ago.

The reason Strachan can't attract players on a high wage like Larsson or Sutton is because our wage structure can't allow it. O'Neill was enabled to make those signings by a wage structure that Strachan does not have.

Couldn't comment for sure on that but I'd imagine per member of the top tiers of the squad that the wages are lower. Larsson, Sutton, Lennon, Petrov, Hartson, Balde, Valgaeran perhaps a few more were on wages Strachan can't tap into.

all great having a bigger squad but most of the squad go straight to the reserves an are not given fair chance 2 show wat they can do, so why buy them just for backup??? we had back up in the form of O'Dea and Balde at CB and O'Dea is a CB. So why spend over the odds for Loovens just to sit on the bench aswell. Bad mangement at board an coach level knowing we had a problem at LB for two seasons but thought we had more trouble at CB wen that quite wasn't the case.

People say WGS's signings have been poorer on the whole. Surely this must make him the better coach then when you look at the statistics when it comes to getting the best out of his players. He beat the same team to the league that MoN couldn't.

I'M not saying i do agree with it. But having a smaller wage structure now is less risky especially in these times,

I agree though that signings like hutch, doumbe, killen, sammy, mccourt, mcginn are an absolute waste.
Even though their fees would have been low and wages pretty small id say their bleeding the club of about 2.5-3million a year,
Think of how many season tickets and jerseys you have to sell to get that back:38:

When it comes to amount spent remember that:

    1) MON spent around £15m in his very first year as manager, compared to Strachan's total of around £7m. Surely it's a big advantage for a manager to get their players in early.

    2) The value of transfers globally soared from 2000 to today, and whilst most clubs will be spending far more nowadays than they did in say 2000, our spending kept steady, going against the global norm.

This means that either a huge majority of clubs in the world have decided to inject a much higher percentage of the club's cash into transfers, except for Celtic, over the last few years, or that Strachan is working at a lower percentage of the club's income than MON was.

    (Point 2 is pre-credit crunch)

One thing you shouldnt forget is altho both men spent around the same money MON already had half a team to build around so he could afford to spend big on a few players.
WGS in his first two years in charge had to buy many more players as celtic changed the pay structure and most of the old team left so his spending was spread out over more players.
He had to make his money go further if you like.

Why is Aliadiere listed, he was only here for like a couple weeks, then he decided to * off back to England after Artmedia
Not enough time to really list him as a transfer imo ahahaha
