    I just wonder if this is the chance that WGS needs? I mean he is hardly likely to drop Mick as he made him captain and I don't think he is the sort of man who likes egg on his face. However if he can say that a substantial bid has been lodged etc etc it might solve a few problems for him, i.e gets rid of Mick and maybe has a bit of money for other targets. After all money and wages have been his war cry this window.

    I don't think any club in their right mind would pay 4 million for Mick after the last 10 months or so. Newcastle are associated with every half decent centre-back when it comes to the transfer window, but this is just not going to happen.

    I'm a bit torn on this. I think Big Mick has done well for us, and I would like to see how our defense operates with a decent left back. But he has struggled for quiet a while. That said £4million is a decent fee. I think if we could get Jose Enrique as part of the deal I would go for it. I would love to see Caldwell/O'Dea given a chance as a partnership. I think Darren is a potential star. When he first broke into the team he reminded me of Paul McGrath. I agree with Liamo if he goes give the armband to Broonie

    Dont no where people get the idea that mick is not strong enough to be captain ,if he wasnt im sure strong characters like strachan ,lennon would take that job away from him ,and also mick he seems an honest guy if he thought he wasnt capable or doing his job he would give it up ,and he has lead a winning team to the league title ,,is this a * post ?

    Berra isn't better than McManus. I am not sure is there an SPL defender much better than Stephen. And selling the captain-a bad idea.
