Snoring

Discussion in 'TalkCeltic Pub' started by WEEMAN7, Mar 5, 2017.

  1. Morning Bhoys & Ghirls!

They say a problem shared is a problem halved.
I'm in my mid 30's, not overweight, drink in moderation, stopped smoking now for about 3 months, got a gym membership (attempt to go each week), have a 9 to 5 job, got a lovely wee bhoy aged 3 and life is okay dokey!

But my chronic snoring is putting a major strain on our relationship. The problem being, when I drop off my inner 'warthog' takes over, which in turn wakes the missus up, who shoves me till I stop, this wakes me up and both of us have a * sleep, resulting in us being crabbit fukers'.

I've recently been recording my sleep and snoring patterns, which have revealed that it is fukin' epic and accounts for approx 37% of my time sleeping.

This sounds like a deep throaty snore, and apparently they don't operate unless you have sleep apnea.

I was wondering if anyone else had the same problem, and have tried any remedies that would help?

They can operate on this issue?

I do snore, would say quite badly but I dont think as bad as you.

Last girlfriend I had I'm not sure if it did effect the relationship or not, as she was a light sleeper anyway and was always on edge with the young bairn. But I think it did play a little part in the whole scheme of things.

Certainly always plays on my mind though, and taken to not using shared cabins on the boat south as I keep myself awake worrying about the snoring.

Always thought it would get less if I dropped a bit of weight etc, but to be honest I've always been known to snore like fuxk.

  5. my problem is waking p 5-6 times through night with really dry mouth, then i need to drink water which makes me get up through night to *.i think im a mouth breather, apparently its dentist i need to go and see and not doctor.i snore also.

if your a mouth breather could be causing the snoring.were supposed to breath through our noses but i do it through my mouth,so do many others.

  9. Usually only when * or bunged up..

Don't 'think' I'm too bad otherwise..

  10. I think so, apparently in severe case were it obstructs your breathing like sleep apnea, they cut away flappy tissue.

I like this workaround Lol. We've got a third bedroom but it's currently used as storage. I may need to have a clear out.
I suppose if it works, and you don't lose that intimacy as a couple, then great!

I've also read somewhere, that a mouthpiece from the dentist can help to open the airways at the back of the throat.
I close my mouth when I sleep, but it doesn't sound nasally, it's when the air reaches my throat it sounds like a fukin motorbike.

Done that a few times. Every time I do it i get remind of the dogs that wake themselves up with a fart.
Oh I'm so looking in to this. Doubt it will be severe enough to get it done but who knows.

    This thread :32:

Seriously I snore as well and have, as someone posted, caught the end of my snore :52: There is a herbal spray you get from boots (there are other chemists available haha) that helps me, it's not cheap, about 18 quid or you can also get wee strips that you stick to the roof of your mouth that help as well.
Can't mind the name of either, have been away this week and forgot to take them with me :56:

  13. Missus snored badly * LOUDLY, she has apnea, hospital gave this breathing aid called cpap, I think, looks a bit weird but works, no need for separate beds now and she's much better, rested and happier for a sleep

  14. Know what you mean. It's bizarre, even with the advances in medical science there's very little out there that has a realistic chance of curing this.

It can be exhausting and stressful for those concerned, and has a real health impact on the quality of your life.

That's not snoring he has just tried to pull a fly wan. :84:

  17. She often snores too, but I can easily get back to sleep and it doesn't bother me.
So I wasn't sure what all the fuss was about.

Downloaded an App called SnoreLab that records you during the night, and graphs when and how loud you were at certain intervals while you listen.

    * me!! After a couple of recordings, I was shocked at the noises I was rattling out! I'm surprised the neighbors haven't complained.

  18. Can you find out the name of the spray for me bud?
