    Irish Republican songs?

As long as the Huns are given a free reign to sing about Loyalism and British imperialism – which is hugely politicised (and contentious) – then there can be no complaints about Celtic fans singing about Irish Republicanism, I’m afraid.

You can’t have one rule for one club and one for another.

If political chants have to go, then they all go.

If not, then this is nothing more than a proxy attempt to drag us into an issue that we have nothing to do with.

It's interesting. What songs do you think Celtic supporters are allowed to sing and what songs are Gers allowed to sing. That's for all of you.

as long as we avoid up the ra chants and some of the ira add ons we should be ok, they might ban BOTB but they would need to ban loyalist songs aswell. this needs to be black and white there can be no shades of grey here.

Non sectarian songs. Everything else should be fine. As for "offensive" songs, this is more than just a Scottish problem. There are a lot of songs that teams from England (such as Man United, Chelsea etc) sing to each other that could definitely be deemed offensive. I'm sure I remember reading somewhere that one of United's rivals started singing a song about the Munich Air Crash.

What defines a "non secretarian" song? Is Roll of Honor secretarian?

I'm just trying to get clarification. Like IRA songs would be considered secretarian, no? And obviously songs about * blood are.

Don't chant 'Up the ra' and we will be fine. What's wrong with chanting 'Up the Celts'?

The main difficulty is that they will never publish a list of banned songs - sectarian songs and those which are deemed 'political' or 'offensive'.

Because if they did, it would only take a small percentage out of our songbook, on the other hand, it would virtually wipe out the Hun’s entire repertoire.

As Graham Spiers said: it must always be seen as "one being as bad as the other"

This is precisely why the problem has never been tackled in Scotland. They won’t target the real bigots, in stead; they try to make a compromise by targeting the victims as well.

    That is why they’ve gone after Celtic’s Irish Republican chanting. They can’t get Celtic for sectarianism, so they’ve tried to extend the battle to 'offensive chanting' - this is evidenced by the fact they’ve ignored Rangers Loyalist chanting. <!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> <w:WordDocument> <w:View>Normal</w:View> <w:Zoom>0</w:Zoom> <w:punctuationKerning/> <w:ValidateAgainstSchemas/> <w:SaveIfXMLInvalid>false</w:SaveIfXMLInvalid> <w:IgnoreMixedContent>false</w:IgnoreMixedContent> <w:AlwaysShowPlaceholderText>false</w:AlwaysShowPlaceholderText> <w:Compatibility> <w:BreakWrappedTables/> <w:SnapToGridInCell/> <w:WrapTextWithPunct/> <w:UseAsianBreakRules/> <w:DontGrowAutofit/> </w:Compatibility> <w:BrowserLevel>MicrosoftInternetExplorer4</w:BrowserLevel> </w:WordDocument> </xml><![endif]--><!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> <w:LatentStyles DefLockedState="false" LatentStyleCount="156"> </w:LatentStyles> </xml><![endif]--><!--[if gte mso 10]> <style> /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0cm 5.4pt 0cm 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0cm; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-ansi-language:#0400; mso-fareast-language:#0400; mso-bidi-language:#0400;} </style> <![endif]-->

If they were so concerned about political chanting, then Loyalist songs would have be banned; or at least highlighted as well.

But because they aren’t, it merely confirms the belief that the decision to go after Celtic’s Irish Republican songs, is just a proxy attempt to drag us into the issue in order to appease the bigots.

So as I said before, as long as the Huns are allowed to sing about Loyalist terror and British imperialism, there can be no complaints about Irish Republican ballads.

There should be a poll for this. I'm interested to know the numbers that think there are no place for it against the people who are defensive of it.

I would rather we just stopped the RA songs, but as some people say what songs are actually banned? would they not need to ban others such as the flower of scotland & * save the ahhh (cant type it) if the ra songs were banned.

Ive said on here before parkhead is rocking when we are singing songs such as
    JCGE
    YNWA
    also chants as
    LETS ALL DO THE BROONIE
    LETS ALL DO THE HUDDLE

NOT when the ra songs are being sung,Cmon people you must see what i do
    no ra songs 50k partying
    ra songs 10-20k partying

I know what i would rather

damm right, not every one will join in with the ra chants and songs but if we sing from our home game song sheet at away games the atmosphere will improve and the shame will be left to wallow in their own filth
