CELTIC are tracking Hammarby defender Mohanad Jeahze with a view to making a £2million swoop.

SunSport can reveal the 25-year-old is in the frame to compete for the left-back position next season.

Hoops boss Ange Postecoglou wants a new defender in as soon as the summer window opens and highly-rated Jeahze fits the bill.

Polish side Lech Poznan have already had a bid rejected for the Swedish-born Iraq star, who worked under ex-Rangers boss * Advocaat for his national team.

Hammarby, who are top of the Swedish league, landed Jeahze from rivals Mjallby in 2020 and have developed him into the most exciting attacking left-back in the country over the past two seasons.

They flatly rejected Poznan’s bid last summer but expect more interest in him this time around from across Europe.

And Celts are one of the clubs monitoring him closely.

Postecoglou will jettison Boli Bolingoli this summer, leaving a gap in the squad for someone to come in and challenge Greg Taylor.

Adam Montgomery will return from a loan spell at Aberdeen, but the Hoops want more competition for Scotland cap Taylor.

Jeahze is out of contract in December 2023 and Hammarby won’t stand in his way if Celtic table an acceptable offer.

  3. Looks like he can pick out a man in the final third but can't tell much from that video..

    Is he quick?
    How good is he?
Sweden don't really have any good left back's do they? And he's never been capped for their full squad and now opted for Iraq

Just turned 25. Seems to be a player on the up. A recent full internationalist from end of last year. From a market that Ange knows best (Asian). Can see it without knowing how good he is myself but ticks a few boxes and it's likely the first position we'll look to strengthen..

Trust Ange to spot plenty bargains in your Juranovic type moulds..

Ange clearly likes Taylor, so I wasn't expecting us to go out and sign a player in the 6-8 million mark.

At the same time he looks good in the highlight videos, and buying a fullback from the top team in a Scandinavian country worked well last time :34:

  6. Just one game but all his bit's. Got to say he doesn't look impressive at all overall on this one but as I say, just one game..

Gets an assist but can't be quick as he doesn't even try to go by his man once. His ball use isn't the best and a bit too one footed..

Limited footage etc. But don’t think he looks impressive at all…

Would expect us to be targeting better with the Champions League coming next season.

Full game against Basel in ECL. Only watched first half so far and he wasn't involved in the play much.

Ludwig Augustinsson. Went to Sevilla last summer. Formerly of Bremen.

I take your point though: can’t think of many more.

Anyone looking to get a suit made in Baghdad? Because Celtic have just found us an Iraqi Taylor.

Sweden have had troubles in the LB/RB spot for about two decades. I dont know anything about this guy, but i had never heared of Starfelt either when he joined, even though im a Swede.

    I have 100% trust in Ange's transfers.

Seems to be a player who has come on a lot the last couple of seasons. Would need to see more of him to determine how good he actually is. At 25 he will be coming into his peak years as well.

Hammarby as a club have made a great start to the league this year. They appointed a coach called Martin Cifuentes who is known around Scandinavian football for creating hard working pressing teams who are good to watch. He has certainly delivered in his early days.

From the videos, which are limited he looks like a more athletic version of Taylor, he is quicker but has similarities in that he looks to play the ball and cause other teams problems with his movement and passing as opposed to beating players.

The player from Hammarby I would really like is Williot Svedberg, he is a fantastic young talent who can play CM, AM or has been used off the Left wing in a 4-3-3 similar to ours this season scoring 5 in 5. He’s got a great physical profile at 6’1 with an athletic build and has not long just turned 18. He is also technically very good.

MOHANAD JEAHZE last night opened the door on a summer move to Celtic.

SunSport revealed Celts boss Ange Postecoglou is tracking the £2million Hammarby left-back.

Iraqi cap Jeahze insists he will only leave the Swedish league leaders if it’s for a bigger club.

On the subject of Celts’ interest, he said: “I can’t say much about that.

“I’ve always been very clear. If I am going to leave Hammarby it will be for something better than Hammarby. I love it here in Hammarby.”

When asked about Celts’ strip being the same colours as Hammarby’s, the 25-year-old laughed: “Yes, it’s green and white!”

Hammarby team-mate Darijan Bojanic insists Jeahze is a top talent.

The Sweden midfielder said: “He’s class. There is no better left-back in all of Sweden. He’s better than the left-backs in the national team too.

“It’s how he is with the ball and his ability to run up and down the field all the time. He always makes good decisions.

“Mohanad’s passing is central to us on the pitch. He’s class right through.”

He is class and as you would expect at his age is getting better all the time. A good ball carrier as you say, scores all sort of goals strikes from outside the box good passing moves and back post headers. Has a good engine, is a good physical profile and good on the ball.

I think he would be able to play the Hatate role well, in the Rogic/ ORiley position or as another option off the left. I don’t see why he couldn’t play off the right of the front 3 either.

Lustig was fantastic, but if he got injured we had no good backup. Very thin in that position. This guy does not represent Sweden though if im not mistaking.
