BBC are saying that Ipswich have come in for McManus

 

they can have him,give odea a great chance

 

loovens is the only defender we can count on at the moment, loovens for captain!!!

 

I think we have missed mcmanus and he and Caldwell compliment each other get them together again and we will do alright for the season

 

I suppose there could be a bit of truth in this, considering he was Keane's team mate for a bit. Then again, it could be 2+2=5.

Wouldn't be that bothered if he went, as long as we got at least £3m.

 

last year I wouldn't of agreed but now LOOVENS for captain even though I like caldwell to much pressure of being captain I reckon ..

I wouldn't be too dissapointed to see McManus go as we have plenty of cover in Loovens, O'Dea, Caldwell and Thompson

Ipswich Town are interested in signing Celtic captain and Scotland defender Stephen McManus.

The 26-year-old has just returned from training after missing the start of the season with a knee injury.

He has not been included in the Celtic squad for Wednesday's Champions League qualifier against Arsenal but is in George Burley's latest Scotland squad.

McManus has been attracting interest from a English Premier League club, but Ipswich appear to be favourites.

Ipswich manager Roy Keane knows McManus from his own short spell as a player at Celtic Park.

And it is believed that Celtic would be willing to listen to offers for the player, who is a product of their own youth system.

Mowbray appears to be happy with his central defensive pairing of Gary Caldwell and Glenn Loovens, with Darren O'Dea as a potential back-up.

The manager, who arrived from West Brom during the summer to succeed Gordon Strachan, also recently said that there was no guarantee that McManus would remain captain.

Despite his lack of games this season, McManus, who has 18 Scotland caps, has been included in Burley's squad for next week's World Cup qualifiers against Macedonia and Netherlands.

Wouldnt let him go. GC has reverted to the GC of old and will need time to hopefully get over the setback. He is by far a better all round defender and player than Loovens. Cant believe that someone wanted him as captain, get ur nut checked!!!!

we cant sell big mick. we have missed him at the back big time.

 

He's still the club captain and until he returns to the field then he is still the captain of Celtic and it may get changed when he returns as Mowbray said.
