Liam Lawrence

Lennon watched the 28-year-old score for the Republic in their 2-1 victory over Paraguay on Tuesday night and Celtic are understood to be in discussions with Stoke on a deal for Lawrence in the region of £1.5m.

"Celtic have opened talks with Stoke over a move," a source close to the player confirmed. "Liam is very excited by the idea of playing for such a big club. It's up to the clubs now to sort out a fee, but he's very happy and is already thinking of pulling on the hoops next season."

Lawrence said: "I've spoken to my manager at Stoke, Tony Pulis, and told him I think it's best if I move on. If I'm not playing regularly, the Ireland boss isn't going to take a chance on me."

£1.5m would be a theft for player of his caliber. And he seems eager to discuss with Celtic, it would be good move for us.

I think this looks to be the most promising rumour so far, he is one * of a player and I like that there are quotes involved, and as mentioned before 1.5 mill would be theft! Sign him up Lenny (when your made manager).

 

Thats exactly why i want us pursuing him vigorously he is a top player and i want celtic to do all they can to sign him!.

let this be true please, strong, fast enough, the odd wee trick can score screamers and not to bad at free kicks either , good crosser and good at helping out the full backs aswell, plus hes got ALOT of stanima

 

why is it he took so long to get into the national team? ,hes 28 with only 4 caps

 

Could have something to do with the fact that hes English born to Irish parents, so he never played for the Irish youth setup. Also on wiki it said he was called up for a match in 2006 but was unused. But G-Trap seems to like him and Trap is doing great with Ireland.

Get him in. Lovely footballer, good range of passing, good with a dead ball, great delivery & a bit of dig. Could see him a Broonie forming an excellent partnership in the middle, & if Aiden leaves can slot in on the left. Please let this be true
