Thanks for the vid, didnt see it cos I could only get it on the radio.

 

yeah he saved our arses today, but apart from that i thought he was terrible.
every header he won was headed straight to a hearts player, apart from the one that went in the net of course!

Right, do you think this guy is a good as some people think? tonight i thought he was poor for the second goal, seems to miss the ball when he's going in for a tackle, on saturday against motherwell, poor passing at the back putting other defenders under pressure, wee dont need this to be honest, not too mention how he played at the last huns game, will he get better? cause he needs to improve in my opinion.

 

i think after tonight if we can get even half the money paid for him celtic would take it having said that playing with mcmanus doesnt help

 

I think the problem with Loovens is that he is being forced to play with Chuckle Brother No 1 one week and then Chuckle Brother No 2 the next week. That can't be easy for him. I would say if we bring in a quality experienced centre back in January alongside Glenn, then we will see the best of him. O'Dea can be the back up. You have got to remember that icy surface was treachorous tonight and it was -7, so playing football in that would have been an absolute lottery.

I can see were your coming from mate,i can see major flaws in this guy thou, which is worring to me, if we had the best defenders in the world around him,i dont think his style will change leaving me to think he is or will be the next gary caldwell in waiting.

I can see where everybody is coming from.
However I think his negative attributes outway any positive attributes.
He was poor tonight, and I wouldnt be gutted if he leaves.

 

I think he's our best centre back, McManus obviously is dire, Caldwell thinks he's a lot better than he is, and is always good for own goals and horrendous mistakes in big games. Loovens is by no means the perfect defender but he's the best we've got. Granted he was poor tonight, second goal I didn't think he did enough, third he was turned inside out and should never have had his back turned to the defender.

Lets face it the best players in the world aren't attracted to the SPL and even so there isn't exactly hundreds of really top drawer centre backs. That being said we need to invest in one to play along side Glenn in January as a priority.

 

Tonight confirmed for me that despite criticism and many wanting him out ASAP, Caldwell if still our best CB by some distance. He should be the last of the 3 CBs that we want out. Punt Gary and we will need 2 new CBs.

Thing about Loovens is he is good enough to look good in the SPL or Championship most of the time but that is his level. Remember when we signed him WGS making really weird negative comments that he wasnt Rio Ferdinand etc and basically implying he was a cheap, pretty basic fall back player, maybe 3rd or 4th on the list of targets. It was a clear subtle criticism of the clubs tight fistedness. I still think Loovens is an OK backup but he should not be a first pick. Mick looks beyond redemption now too.

 

caldwell is best centre back and i think as come on leaps and bounds .. loovens tonight just didnt seem intrested .. i dont think hes a great defender but can cause some trouble in corners .. he is ok .. wouldnt want to ship him out to bring someone dodgy in

 

I agree Caldwell is possibly our best CB, but he's still not worth over 1 million quids a year...never will be.

He's been offered a contract, WE ARE NOT WANTING RID OF HIM.

He feels he's worth more than we've offered him & as is his right has seemingly decided to run down his contract as he did at Hibs & Newcastle.

Loovens is alright & has looked good on occassions, then there's performances like tonight - but Mick?

Same old our Centre Backs are dodgy- In order of worst first- McManus, Caldwell, Loovens.
I know that Loovens was not at his best- but when you look at the 3 playerrs overall displays this season I, think he is the best.
Old Chinese proverb 'does best of a bad bunch make you any good'?
Zeng Zhi- if fit could he not play in the middle at the back?- I am sure that he played there before at some point ,maybe Charlton- or maybe I've been oan the dope again!
Plus we have O'Dea coming back too!

 

I really dont think this guy has got it to be honest, which leaves us with 3 CD's that are all suspect, to be honest i would have Davy Weir before anyone of them
is january our work starts at the back, we need to focus on this and nothing else
