[Link] Garath McCleary

My first thought when I saw Norwich and West Brom interested was: forget it, he'll go to the EPL. Then my mind backtracked to good old Joe Ledley joining us with Stoke City and some other EPL clubs interested. We'll see what happens, don't know anything about the player.

Delighted to see transfer rumours swirling, always a rollercoaster of emotions following things. Read that Lenny wants to try and get transfers done by early July, which would give new players a month to bed in before Champions League qualifiers. Like the sound of it. Then hopefully if we qualify, we can sign one or two bargains before the window closes.

 

Would take this boy in a heart beat. Watched him 4 or 5 times this season and he has been the stand out player by a mile

 

9 goals and 6 assists in 22 Championship games this season - not bad.

 

from what i've seen, (don't attack me for this we all hate the * :icon_mrgreen he appears to be in the mould of aluko though mcleary looks better, just have a similair style of play. He looks quite direct and has scored a few fabulous long shots this season, also he looks to carry a decent amount of pace and trickery and if there's any FIFA fans (not that im judging him by FIFA) there is an In-Form of him - 74 silver with 89 shooting. Judge this as you will, just trying to help.

 

Erm still has a bit to learn, but when he's good hes excellent. He is the fans player of the year at Forest.

Look at his goals from the 7-3 game against Leeds. They were quality.

For a free transfer I'd take him anyday.

 

When he's on form he's fantastic but he has games where he can be completely absent and look disinterested. He wouldn't be my first choice but as with kelvin wilson its a free transfer I suppose so maybe worth a go, just don't expect him to set the world on fire.

never seem him play but tbh it seems a joke of a signing for a club like celtic thought we were aiming for champions league ffs!.lennon seems upsest with free transfers from championship clubs.

Got similar records this season.

Burke 46 games 13 goals 16 assists
McCleary 22 games 9 goals 7 assists

Burke Goal every 3.5 games, Assist every 2.9 games
McCleary Goal every 2.4 games, Assist every 3.1 games

Burke is 4 years older than him though and playing in a much better team and technically McCleary has a better record.

 

No thanks should try and get Matt phillips. Or the Dundee utd duo

 

Is he a left footer?

 

6 of which happened in one month and 4 of the 6 in one game vs Leeds.

Take away that month and you have a very average winger...


Pass on this guy please Lenny. Will be looking 10k plus wages and he isnt worth them imo.

Yeah in an attacking sense, but Burke works his * off and there is more to his game than goals and assists.

Both they records are surprisingly excellent by the way.

 

I'll be the first to admit I've never seen him play but by the looks of things he is a very average 24 year old championship player who's stats look better than they actually are because of one good game. I think we should be aiming much higher.
