    We really need to get rid of dead wood from squad next season,no huns next year no challenge again,the huns would have gotten money from somewhere trying to compete with us,they prob would have went into debt again.Anyway imo we should have the best 13,14 players we can afford then supplement first team with youngsters,we would still win the league at a canter,while promoting our best youngsters.Im pretty sure that's the way Ajax and Porto operate,we have to many average players in our squad,punt the basas and promote our youth,thats what I say anyway.Would this work,Thoughts?

    That's a good idea until you play Barca away with 4-5 first team players injured. Imagine relying on Henderson, McGregor and the younger guys in a must win.

    I have no idea about finances at the club but lets say we could pay 30/40 k aweek to 14 players at the club surely our first team would have a better quality of player than we have a present,pending injuries we would do a lot better than we are now,plus giving our youngsters valuable experience

    I'd let;

    Zaluska, Matthews, Ambrose, Boerrigter, Rogic, Herron, McGeouch, McGregor, Fridjonsson, Pukki and Balde all leave. Stokes and Forrest also if a bid is good enough.

    I love Matthews, but Lustig is the better player and we can cash in on him. Fisher is good enough to cover for Lustig if he is out for a couple games.

    Ambrose is a good squad player, but he has far too many off days and I think some teams would pay a decent amount for him.

    I also think Pukki and Balde are decent enough to come off the bench. I've got a soft spot for Balde though. These two need to play week in week out to be good, they depend on confidence. So it's not going to work for them here.

    So my team with 2nd choices would look something like;

    Gordon
    Fasan

    Lustig (Boyata?) (Denayer?) Izaguirre
    Fisher O'Connell (New?) Tierney or New?

    Biton Brown
    Henderson Mulgrew

    GMS Johansen Armstrong
    Forrest Commons Stokes

    (New?)
    Griffiths
    Scepovic

    A 3 behind the striker of GMS, Armstrong and Johansen is class. But I think if we got a class winger in nobody would complain. Stokes and Forrest could possibly leave.

    So maybe 2 CB's, a back up LB, a winger and a top striker. I'd say a CM but Brown and Biton are too good. Biton will be player of the year next year, calling it.

    Agree with every single thing, although I'd not let Matthews go for nothing, would have to be a couple milly or so.

    Definitely not, would have to be £3 mill plus and that's a bargain.

    Agree with a lot of this but I'd keep Matthews and Ambrose. Lustig is injury prone and it's likely the 2nd choice RB will have more game time than him so I'd far rather have Matthews there than Fisher (although I can see Fisher having a future with us).
    Ambrose is a good squad player who, I believe, comes in for a lot of unnecessary stick. His recent performances have all been very good, imo. (still wouldn't want him as 1st choice, but decent deputy to cover for injuries and give players a rest.)

    Also about the keeper, if Zaluska does leave then it would be advisable to get a new GK in. Only having two GKs is risky, especially considering Gordon's history. Ideally a young GK with potential who has a view to challenging for 1st choice within a season or 2.

    I think Leo Fasan has great potential. Got to get some game time in the summer.

    We'd be daft to let Matthews go. Lustig is very injury prone, Matthews at his best is a superb replacement.

    Matthews has his own injury problems but not to the same extent.

    * we've played Efe Ambrose right back for large portions of this season.

    With Boyata in I think we have a squad that will probably get us through the qualifiers. Still need a left back, replacement for VVD when he leaves and maybe a new striker, but we need to get rid of some players.

    The boy Tierney is * woeful and shouldn't be included in this conversation. Another season before I want to see him again.

    He was * shocking against St.Johnstone. Just because he's young and has a Celtic top on doesn't automatically mean he's destined for great things.

    Dont think we have enough quality youth players to even acheive this ... also seems like a slightly backwards way of thinking after what weve built this season, i agree the deadwood should go but instead of replacing these players with our own youth players we should look at adding with first team quality players to make a asualt on the champions league. Youth players should be sent out on loan to the lower leagues first after impressing in the reserve squad.

    Thought he did very well for a 17-year old actually. Give him 2-3 years and he'll be pushing for a regular first-team spot.

    With Denayer and most likely VVD going keeping Ambrose is a * priority this season, we cant afford to lose our 1st,2nd and 3rd choice CB's in the one window
