What I'm thinking is you could take your good lady's mum to one side, say you're awfully embarrassed about what happened but explain you've been at the doctors for a medical problem and that one way you and the doctor explored to get you more comfortable on the pan was to sit like that just until your 'wee problem' cleared.

This could be piles, a rash or whatever else you make up - but just make sure you are convincing, maybe do it over the phone - say you haven't been able to sleep since that happened because of what she might be thinking and explain that you don't make a habit of doing that, it's just that the doctor suggested it for a wee while.

Meanwhile, your burd will know what a nutter you are, so tell her the truth so she doesn't think you've been at the doctors without her knowing. Problem solved.

Tell her it's piles as well as you've been having stomach problems which have been causing enlarged, uncomfortable stools and the doctor suggested squatting on the pan whilst holding on to the toilet seat cover thingymajig to help you push. That's why you were facing backwards.

Tell her there's no way you should have been at somebody else's house doing that, that you wish you'd stayed in but you never expected to need to go the toilet, you thought you made sure you went before you went out but it just came over you all of a sudden.

And offer to pay for any damages you may have caused to the pan.

 

Angie, he should come clean with his burd, aye - but not the maw ffs, they don't appreciate antics like that especially where * is concerned.

He should say to his missus what the scenario is, and lie to her maw.
