Celtboy, I think allowing Aiden to stay would sacrifice far more than 3 points, the respect and authority of the manager would be gone and unrepairable.

 

This will show the manager the respect he deserves. McGeady must have been influenced by Barry Bawbag's victory over PLG.

 

Have to disagree. Therefore you playing the youth team and losing to rangers and winning nothing is the right thing to do. I just cant agree with that. i want celtic to win. as does every one of us but we need our best players. i am not pro mcgeady i think he is out of line but the best thing for celtic as a club is for mcgeady to apologise and strachan to reduce his suspension i think

It is a hypothetical situation and no I would not support them. The point I think people and myself are making is how far do you take this to make a point?

If a player in a position in which we are struggling for talent and depth gets suspended would it not make more sense to carry out the discipline after an important fixture?

After all if no player is bigger than any club why should they be the potential cause of a fixture loss that could cost us a league, cup, place etc.

Put it another way, if Boruc had done whatever Aiden McGeady has done and Mark Brown was injured do you think WGS of the board would be as quick to do as they have done here? How would you feel and deal with that one?

 

That's true, he pushed petrov into depression before showing him the door. And now it looks like aiden will be off to newcastle or somwere * like that because of strachen.

 

Great management skill by Strachan - publicly humiliate McGeady and send the club into turmoil. And all of this on the eve of away games to Falkirk and Rangers - games that could and should have seen us secure a healthy cuushion to secure 4 in a row had we not lacked bottle and a basic football know-how in throwing away 5 out of 6 points in our last 2 games v our friends from Edinburgh. This fact, by the way, and depending on which unsubstantiated version you choose to believe, was made by Mcgeady to Strachan in the dressing-room exchange. Fair comment in my opinion.

 

I hope WGS knows what he's doing.

 

Because the difference would not just be one player, it would be how his inclusion would undermine the manager, and that effect would be permanent, not just 2 weeks.

McGeady has humiliated himself! If you stole something and were sent to prison for it, would you say it was the police's fault?

If McGeady stayed unpunished it would be of more detrement to the team than 2 weeks worth of matches, Strachan would lose all credibility and be driven out of the team.

As for what Aiden said, I don't have a thought on that yet as we don't know what was said, but he definatly chose the wrong place to say it.

It must have been soon after he joined the clubthen, but it was MON who helped him with his depression. I think you're right it was Barnes who actually signed him.

 

I didn't mean depressed literally. I meant he * him off so much he wanted to leave. I didn't know stan was ever depressed.

back on topic, banning one of our best players before two tricky away days, including the darby, isn't the smartest of moves espically when the injury list we have countinues to grow.

 

I don't think Petrov was ever depressed because of managers, he was homesick.

 

Strachan is 1 ignorant man and if our best player leaves the club i would be hugely dissapointed!!! ffs what good is susspending our best player for 1 of the most important fixtures of the season??????

If we lose this which i think we will, it will be down to the manager and he would be puting his self under huge pressure!!!!! coz the way be have been playing in the league recently is abysmall!!! and we must do better!!! or there will be no trophy,s i hope this is wgs,s last year as i feel there is numerous managers out there that can deliver trophys and GREAT FOOTBALL, playing players in the right possitions would help !!!!!

For 1>>>> bobo balde was forced out of the 1st team when we all know he is our best defender they also wanted him to sign a confidentiallity agreement to get him 2 * because the club obviously didnt want us to KNOW??????

I would also like 2 know what happend 2 alan thompson john hartson, chris sutton and didier agathe , were they forced out???? 1 minute they were celtic players the next minute they had different clubs????? They said nothing in the papers about leaving but i was watching on celtic tv once a bhoy a couple of weeks ago and thompson was on it talking about his time with us and clearly didnt like strachan???? They also got up to dirty tactics with graveson and told him if he didnt find a club he would rot in the reserves. Fair enough graveson was * but he signed him???? and peter lawell and him gave him the contract.

It just makes you think what the * goes on behind the seens at our club????

Well a will be backing aiden all the way and if he leaves i will not be going back 2 parkhead under wgs ever again!!!

 

Well said mate!!! He should become a man and stop spitting the dummy out the pram if he gets a row. He should also be greatful to Gordon Strachan for making him the player he is today. I'll back Gordon Strachan all the way as he sticks up for the team when he needs too. To be honest i think McGeady will leave in january now but lets face it, we have lost BIGGER and BETTER players than Aiden McGeady!!!!!

 

Strachan had no choice, it wasn't a decision to be made. It had to be done.
