Mate the step up is far too big, we've seen that with paddy mccourt. These players are too small for a club like celtic, we should broaden our search for talent and luk elsewhere. And the last time i watched him play was for northern ireland a few weeks ago. He looked ok but then again it was against hungry fs lol

When? Now or 2012? We need experienced influential players now, not players for the future. Thats all we seem to be signing lately. Players for the reserve team.

If the scouts at paradise think signing him is a good idea thats good enough for me. the more the merrier!

Were signing players while the huns cant offload their deadwood so they can spend £2mill hahahaha

If he is that bad why are Swansea and now Birmingham fighting it out for his signature also.

your right Conka, he is a steal at that price, give him to the end of january and if he has not made the first team, send him back to derry, cause if you dont want him we do, and do not want him to leave us.
The best player on the pitch season past for Derry, fast as * and will leave defenders wondering what just went past them.

Hope your right mate but this was the same talk we got hit with when mccourt was on the verge of signing.

All the same best of luck to the lad if he does sign, you never know what your getting with relative unknowns, makes me think of a one Henrik Larsson =D

It is only £200,000. We are buying potential not the finished article. This is a route Celtic will explore more often, buying players before they are fully developed. If this boy plays for Derry another year or 2 and then turns out to be a very good player the cash rich premiership clubs will outbid us. If the boy doesn't live up to his potential it is not a major amount of money spent.

he is a good player and is defonentily good enough to be in challenging for first team football. £200,000 is a steal and whoever said dont compare him to didier agathe needs shook he will be 10 times the player agathe was in a couple of years he is a prospect and a very good one hence the reason chelsea were tracking him :bbpd:

Can't see this as even an gamble. Look at Reading they have been signing players from the Irish league, and these players are worth millions. The guy got pace and skill. If it doesn't work out we'll sell him to an English Championship/League one club or SPL club and get our money back. If it works out for an out lay of £200k we may have a Kevin Doyle/Stephen Hunt on our hands. If we'd have signed either of those boys I'm sure this board would have been full of "not Celtic class" responses as well.

If we sign Bellamy, Sylvinho (or another left back) and this kid I for one won't leave my flat for a month, and it won't just be down to my Keeley/Lucy Pinder Calendars for once

Okay..as both a Derry city and a Celtic fan...........

I'm really fcked off as this would be the steal of the century if Celtic get McGinn for less than £300k.

I really want him to stay with Derry until at least the summer as then he will break all Irish transfer records.

    The young guy is amazing.

BTW.most Derrt fans think they should hold out for £500k plus and sell on clause's.

    I do not disagree.

If Celtic sign him he will be a first team regular by the end of jan!!!!!!!!!!!!11111
