I do watch La Liga, and i think they're a very good side, but to say they're a quality side is too far.

Quality is teams like....Real, Barca, Man Utd, Chelsea, Inter Milan, Bayern, Lyon, even Zenit are better than Villarreal.

No disgrace losing 1-0 to a high flying spanish team that are playing good football right now there league postion says it all, yes we should have lost by alot more but we didn't lost out to a freekick that never should have been given.

We did not get lazy at all ,we played to the best of our ability.

The thing we should be questioning is our ability to compete in the best competition in the world ,when we have the glory of the SPL ,and the magnetism of £20 000 a week max to pay top players

    :50:, what a * post mate.

people saying Villarreal are better than us, yes maybe, but its a one off game for 90 minutes ffs.

villarreal are better than us because our own players are not good enough, not because their's are anything special.

Come on lads, where's the swagger? Where's the winning mentality? The team and fans shouldn't feel inferior to any side. Some people may be willing to accept that we are out our depth, but I'm not. This is our rightful level.

With you all the way on this mate. I will not accept that performance as our limit in Europe. Our away record is an absolute disgrace.

You all watched a team sorely lacking in ideas and investment. We stood off Villareal and allowed them to play right up to the 18yd box then we wonder why we can't get anything from the game. Our defence was so deep our midfielders were parked on the 18yd line and as soon as we got the ball it was humped up to the half way line straight back to the opponents.

We cannot tackle or hold onto the ball. We are far too static on the ball and spend too much time looking for a pass then realise the only option on is to hump the ball away and hope for the best. Villareal are better than us but that didn't come about from them sitting back watching other teams pass them off the park. We have far too many players limited in ability and worst of all, limited in ambition or hunger. Nakamura was nothing short of a disgrace tonight and should have been off at half time. Our line up was far too negative and allowed Villareal too much time on the ball and also allowed their
wing backs to wander up on us at will. We had instances of 3 or 4 of our players who could still not even get a tackle in when they were doubling up on Villareal players. We just looked so flat and anonymous.

The only thing I enjoyed about tonight's game was the fact McManus and Caldwell played well together and didn't do a lot wrong. Boruc's positioning for the goal was dodgy to say the least but apart from that he had a good game. Wilson and Naylor are simply not good enough for any European level and persisting with them is madness. Likewise Nakamura, the guy doesn't have the hunger or the ability to tackle and although he'll run all day, it's a pointless exercise. Brown is still the headless chicken he always was, although it's been tempered slightly but his booking was just stupidity. Robson didn't have long to show anything but when he came on our midfield suddenly looked a whole lot better. Maloney just wasn't in the game at all tonight and McGeady didn't show anything worthwhile either and as for Samaras, he didn't do himself any favours either tonight.

Think it's now plainly obvious we'll end up in the UEFA cup but I wouldn't bet the house on us doing much in there either, not on tonight's showing anyway.

to be honest i thought it was going to be a struggle :52:

but when you watch these teams against us ,as i did tonight i just get * right off , we should have made our presence felt in that second half ,instead we capitulated. looked scared and had virtually no possession , * gutless

So you where praising Aalborg when they drew at Celtic park or where you being negative again.

No easy games in the champions league. Just look at Juventus.

Offer your opinions if it differs from mine but I'm sure you'll agree that we were outclassed and we stuggled to get a foot on the ball. That didn't make us play bad. Our formation was always to try and contain and hit on the break and we did ok first half hour. After that we sat in too much and tired due to being outplayed by a superior passing team. They deserved their win by their good play and not our bad play (apart from arturs positioning and a dodgy free kick). We stuggled to be as technically skilled as them and therefor tired due to chasing. They also defended well and closed us down, we got our chances but sadly they didn't happen.

    Blind faith - No

We can still do something in this group but we have to play the Celtic way from now on and no 4-5-1

We can score goals and threaten anyone, we played to a gameplan and lost to class side, * it! We will be back!

Last 16 is never guaranteed and we shouldn't be * raging at not making it (if we dont) :84:

We all know our circumstances :celt_2:

    Hail Hail

We shouldn't be making excuses or trying to find positives out of this *, we were out-played, we didn't try hard enough and we got *.
Strachans changes, or lack of didn't help and we were really poor out there tonight...

As I said before in the other thread, the team played superb tonight and I'm extremely proud of all of them. They gave us a great effort against a team team light years ahead of us.

I gave up on the CL in the summer when we never signed a LB and a great striker and who knows but that could have made the difference tonight.
