IMO we play with fear in the CM because of the CBs. If we had glorious CBs our CMs could be far more adventurous and not always go for the safe possession ball. If Paul Elliot and Mark Reaper were behind them they would not worry and push up.

I believe that linesman took a guess but the rules state that the benefit of the doubt goes to the attacking team.

I dont believe he was 100% sure, not without TV evidence and even at that we are debating it!

I'd agree m8, and i know i'm pessimistic, but man u are a better side than the last time we played them. Villareal are a crackin side, and i think they will win this group.
We will struggle to take points from these guys home and away, if we can't beat the 4'th seed then i find it hard to be optimistic.

But i do take your point, its 11 v 11 for 90 mins. each time. it can be done

It was that tight, I agree. But, for me, just offside.

I think an armchair fan gets a completely different perspective of a game Keltoi, when i go to the game i never drink because i want to absorb as much as i can.
I don't think it makes you any less of a fan, but i do think you should acknowladge that your view may differ from a lot of others due to the fact you don't see the full picture.
It also makes a difference when you shell out a load of money and time. Thats when you ask about the entertainment value, unless you go for the drink and sing song only.

You described three of our back four as 'excellent' last night. What do the central midfielders have to fear ?

I agree completelly with this, the team have no confidence in the CH pairing. I hope Gordi deals with it soon.

Last night the defenders were good individually other than Mick but you are only as good as the weakest link and that makes it a shaky unit. On other days other defenders have malfunctioned regularly too. I think our CM is based on protecting a shakey defensive unit and Mick in particular. I blame the board for not funding big defensive buys in the summer.

I too am unhappy about the lack of signings but why does WGS persist with Brown, who can't protect the back four because of his Gravesenesque tendencies, and leave out Hartley who can do that job ?

fair comments:50: I know you get a more restricted view of the off the ball (the Scotland-Iceland game was realy bad for this) running etc but there are plenty (in my experience a majority) who dont have a clue despite having the wide view. I also think its important if you really want to analyse a game technically to watch it twice because it never looks trhe same minus the adrenalin. So, I would say the armchair fan with SKY/ Setanta has one advantage over the season ticket holder who doesnt. Obviously both is what you really want:50:but not likely with this crunchy credit thing.

Brown only played the Lenny role last night and hasnt done it much. I thought he played it well last night. He and Caldwell looked the only players who really drove the team on when the chips were down. As for Hartley, he apparently was next door to a neck brace and only a couple of days before the match he could hardly turn his neck and had missed a lot of training. My tuppenceworth is I would like to see a Crosas-Brown pairing in a lot of SPL games.

Its funny but, if you wish, go to CQN and there most folks are saying Brown did well and Robson is getting pelters. I thought Robson did well too although I agree with the CQN folk that he is maybe more for SPL games.
