My concern would almost be the opposite tbh. Dermot having his ego bruised by a manager publicly questioning him and his allies, so doubling down on finding a definitive yes man.

A new yes man is my expectation sadly mate, I think we’re all going to be massively underwhelmed by who Desmond and his cronies appoint.

Have to say there's no one based domestically that does it for me (of realistic options).

I'd look to the continent. A front footed, aggressive manager with a good knowledge of the European Market.

The next manager should maybe go for Brown and Whittaker from Ayr as a new coaching team, they seem to have done well there and would be two decent characters to boost the squad on the training ground.

No novice managers. No to Brown and no to Maloney. We need somebody with a proven track record like Ange, Muscat, Rose, etc.

Jagoba Arrasate of Osasuna is a young manager who doesn't focus on possession. Get him in, and then Budimir in January, so we can batter through opposition.

Im meaning them as coaches not the manager lol

A decent double act for coaching the players along with Ange for example.

Seem to play decent football with Ayr, have a really good record there and both coach the players, plus Brown would be a big character to have around the players.

One thing we do have is money in the bank. Rodgers was a PL manager on PL wages here and we can afford to go similar again. We can also back the new man- if we really really want to. Of the names mentioned so far I think a few are obvious standouts:

    Ange Postecoglu-

A return to Celtic for Ange would be warmly welcomed by the vast majority of fans. No doubt he will be sounded out. The question is- will he want to come back. At this moment in time my feeling is he won't but money talks. Better to be on a few million a year than sitting at home bringing nothing in.

Kieran McKenna- Really highly rated for his work at Ipswich but a very high earning manager under contract until 2028. It would take a sizeable fee to bring him North. Think he would be someone who could improve himself and the team. But would we pay the compensation?

Kjeti Knutsen- Seemingly endlessly linked with every big job that ever comes up there are reasons why he is still at Bodo. Largely financial but his track record is second to none. Out of contract in December do we keep MON in place until we bring him in?

After that who really is out there bar scouring Europe for the next big thing. We do need a thorough process but I dont think we undertake those. We head hunt.

I wouldn't have been shocked to see the club try and get Jesse Marsch but just seen hes under contract until end of World Cup with Canada.

    Nae chance there.

Knutsen never happening, he must be one the most roundabout way of being the best paid manager in the game.

Can't think we'd pay any compensation for McKenna.

It will be a mangers out of work that we hire

Deila did ok for someone dropped into a job they'd never really gone for in the first place, and he was at least honest enough to back out gracefully himself when he knew he'd given all he could. He'd about a 70% win ratio in all games, 2 league titles and (1 or 2?) cups in his time with us, if I remember it correctly... Bit harsh to single him out as the only bad manager we had...

Given the length of my post, you can see I'm not, lots of positives with Clarke, this talk that his football is boring is boring in itself, gets smacked with that same brush every time, if you think he would park the bus at home to Livingston as Celtic manager and play defensive football then you're just kidding yourself on, he makes the most out of what he's got to work with and added to that, the fear factor he has makes players run through brick walls not to disappoint him

A quick look at transfermarkt shows he won 3-0 against Hibs, 5-1 against Partick Thistle, 5-0 against Hamilton at Kilmarnock, don't know how he got such results with supposed eye bleeding football

If we want to break our Europe hoodoo I think Clarke is the man

Thank * you’re not making the decision.

Clarke is a decent manager in his own right but * me, he’s possibly the worst fit for a modern Celtic manager you could pick.

He’s done nothing in Club football to justify a Celtic job and he’s managed Scotland for 6 years. He’s hardly going to come in and have us playing the opposite that Scotland play is he?

Lawwell does not like Clarke, there's zero chance of it happening.

Mark Van Bommel! Won everything there was to win with Antwerp and Balikwisha probably played his best football under him.

He'll put the word out, no self-respecting manager with ability will want it, and we'll end up with Neil Lennon

Having doubts about McKenna. Just read that when he had Ipswich flying it was due to him using that Tony Bloom's analytics company, then when they got into the EPL Bloom ended the deal and that's what caused their downfall.

Obviously no club in Scotland apart from hearts will be allowed to use the gambling man's magic database. So unless McKenna has a movie-style redemption arc where he finds out the real magic was inside him all along, he might be a fraud.
