Brendan Rodgers Discussion Thread

Discussion in 'Celtic Chat' started by Lewis Kerr, Jun 19, 2023.

  1. Aye ok Brendan change the * record.

Should easily be beating pish from Kazakhstan over 2 legs with what was available. There main CB was 38 and could barely move ffs

  2. Lennon won a treble and then the desaster covid season came. We won that treble with pretty * performances like last half year.

Winning trophies doesn't show the whole picture. That's why parting ways even when winning a trophies sometimes make sense. Especially when the performances are poor.

The one thing that disburdens Rodgers is, that the board didn't even give him a chance to improve the squad this summer.

  3. He needs to start introducing some of the so called younger players. Donovan should be given an opportunity at right back - he has more legs going forward than Ralston

  4. Sorry but your comment about the Huns being poor and us having a good season is miles off of it!!!! You’re saying we should compare ourselves to them, that’s absolutely ridiculous in my view. We should be competing in the CL and pushing ourselves forward not comparing ourselves to anyone in Scotland.

  5. Can never understand that logic, utter madness.

  6. Should we beat them easily? 2 of our front 3 shouldn’t be starting games for us, but had to, and Maeda looks like he doesn’t really want to be here just now. Play against any team with the current front 3 and we will struggle. As we seen again today. We’ve known all summer long we needed to bring in players in that area of the park. We gambled with the team, we paid the price. It’s happened plenty in the past, and will no doubt happen again in the future when we go into qualifiers woefully unprepared again.

  7. I dont really stress about talent leaving - it is what it is. I wasnt even too stressed about Rodgers leaving last time round. Its a weird fan expectation that staff are supposed to show loyalty to a club, but as soon as they are deemed a bit *, fans show no loyalty in wanting rid of players and managers.

I think we will win the league with Rodgers then he will go. I also think by Tuesday we are where we so we may as well just try to cheer on what weve got and enjoy the league. No point in wasting your life feeling miserable watching your team win the league. That said, I do feel like Im typing that trying to convince myself that it hasnt all become a bit stale and boring!

  8. Every other SPL side they have played, not to mention Alloa have found the net against that Rangers side. We didnt create a meaningful chance.

  9. Not gonna argue with any of that tbh.

Think we had this discussion the other night so won't go over it all again but I still think a change of shape could have helped and saved us having to play the 2 wingers but that's gone now.

Maeda is definitely a concern. Don't know what's gone on with him but his head seems somewhere else. Starting to wonder if he was promised a move this summer and now Rodgers has gone back on that due to boards failure to replace Kyogo and Khun. If that's what it is, seeing Idah get a move isn't gonna help his mood much either.

  10. That is pish poor to be honest. To not create a single good opportunity against that gang today is rotten.

This is a very good point. We don’t have too much youth coming through and it’s what I feel we always need to be signing the best young talent in scotland.
Youth gives us a freshness and introduces competition and energy. With the money we have in the bank, we should be looking to add young talent. It’s pretty clear that Osmand isn’t the level required for the first team so we need to go and secure talent that’s going to push the first team and prevent things becoming stale.

My gripe about Rodgers is I feel that he favours Premier league pedigree too much and doesn’t trust Scottish talent as much.

  11. Rodgers will leave of his own volition and thus, is a lesser problem than the board who stay firmly entrenched, despite the fans being dissatisfied with them. Thus, I'm hoping the fans focus on them first.

  12. I agree with you, positivity is always a good thing but there's no getting away from the fact that the fitbaw has been * lol, those that don't like/want Rodgers can take solace in the fact that he'll be away at the end of the season.

The club and supporters need a lift, i'm hoping the morra night we get that with new players coming in.

  13. I dont get it. His Liverpool team was * electric. Genuinly better than klopps. Iv never witnessed such attacking madness before.

Yet he now serves up this... poke my eyes with a hot stick please.

  14. He gone yet?

  15. I think with Rodgers it's extreme highs and lows, either the best fitbaw or the worst, i think when his enthusiasm goes that's it, every manager has a shelf life at a club, could be his at Celtic has expired but he's committed himself to the 3 seasons.

Could be a grin and bear it season fitbaw wise, still think we will win the League and maybe even a double or another treble, don't know if it's an age thing that i'm getting older lol, but i don't really feel that arsed tbh, although i get why others are no happy.

  16. His last season at Liverpool was pure *. Europe too.

Deffo a shelf life to be fair but again if you take out loads of goals and assists out of the side and end up having James Forrest at your main wing attacking threat something is up at the club.

  17. I thjnk the football will improve again if we get some attackers in tomorrow. International break coming at a good time. I don't buy into the theory that we should be beating teams like Kairat easily even with James Forrest and Yang out wide. I think you do have to factor in that we've lost a full front 3 in the past 8 months. It's all hypothetical ofcourse but I also believe no manager we've had in recent times gets good football and goals galore with the forwards we currently have.

HOWEVER, we do have to acknowledge that the performances just haven't been good enough. Even if the forwards arent of the required quality, that doesnt excise us being quite stale and laboured basically since Bayern Munich. I've witnessed 3 of the most boring celtic performances I can recall in the space of 10 days. That needs to be questioned and addressed.

Similar to yourself in that I'm losing the passion a bit. I'm still happy to have him here as manager though. As @Leone Naka Fan alludes to, I don't think him going really changes much in terms of our long term future. And contrary to what many might think, I do believe he has a love for the club and wants us to be the best we can possible be like any fan. But his personality and approach to things combined with those in charge above him, will just lead to disappointment.

Given what has publicly played out, I dread to think what the hiring process of any new manager will be like.

  18. The thing in his favour is that his system exerts a level of control against the dross teams in the league that any points dropped are rare. And given the state of the Huns, that means we probably win the league yet again.

But Russell * Martin being more adaptable than you says it all. Sadly, we’ve become predictable and stale.

Whoever said this current squad looks like the corpse of Ange Postecoglou’s team was spot on. That’s far from being all Brendan’s fault, but part of it certainly is.

  19. Used to be that Rodgers was untouchable in the derby. Didn't matter who the Rangers manager was, was always going to take something special to beat him in a derby game.

Now you wonder how bad a hun manager actually has to be to lose one of them.
