Celtic 25/26 Summer transfer window: Stage: Nicholson firing up the Fax Machine

It’s a car crash in slow motion this summer. From confirming Nygren at the start of July we done nothing to the last week in August other than sign two guys for a combined £1.5m from the J league and a loan from Man City who isn’t ready to play apparently in the best part of 7-8 weeks.

In the same time we have managed to get put out the CL with a team at the level of a Killie or Motherwell because we have stopped players leaving because we can’t actually sign replacements. We then have a mix match of guys who don’t want to be there and guys who aren’t good enough.

Our manager has begged, our captain has begged, there’s rumours other senior players have made their concerns known and all been told to get back in their box leading to this. If we lose tomorrow what will they say in their statement which will be out over the next couple of weeks with last seasons accounts showing more profit, more money in the bank?

 

We are genuinely a laughing stock when it comes to transfers. It’s at the point where other clubs are going to refuse doing business with us because we are simply time wasters.

The hilarious thing is according to his LinkedIn profile, Michael Nicholson has done a negotiation course at Harvard Business School. Clearly don’t translate well to the footballing world.

The whole Idah to Swansea should have been kept well under wraps until we had Dolberg’s signature on a contract. The optics are terrible now if it doesn’t happen - we are going to have a striker low on confidence, who potentially doesn’t want to be here in the pressure cooker that is Glasgow, leading the line for us.

Same with Kuhn, let him go but only once we have a replacement in the door.

Buying clubs will not walk away from deals if they need to wait for us to line up replacements. Within reason.

 

Nicholson is a rubber-stamper of deals. In Ange's tenure, he was being praised here. Now there are issues, and that's because Lawwell is blocking deals he deems too pricey.

 

Even if idah was still a Celtic player, I’d no be starting him.
