Uefa rankings mean * all and anyone with a bit of sense understands that.

For context these uefa club rankings I’ve seen being brought up have Huns ranked 30th best team in Europe. They’re complete and utter * and mean nothing.

It could've been a junior team I still wouldn't fancy that forward line to run them ragged. If Yang is on 100 quid or 100 grand it doesn't make him any better or worse than what we've seen

Ange would have had the same bother trying to break down Kairat tonight. Why? Because his system was also heavily reliant on wingers to produce.

I dont really think its a case of something falling solely on the manager.

Its clear the squad was under-resourced.

However its also not unreasonable to expect Rodgers to negotiate Kairat Almaty over two legs with what he did have available.

My main issue is that these performances under Rodgers stretch back much further than tonight. The only two sides we have faced this calender year that we could say we generally had a poorer squad than were Villa and Bayern. But in that stretch of timeline we have lost twice to a poor Rangers side and drawn once. 2 of those results against Barry Ferguson. We also squandered a Cup Final. And now put out of CL by Kairat.

Yang and Forrest are obvious targets of not being good enough. But theres worrying trends all over the place. We are seeing declining performances from everyone from CCV to McGregor to Hatate and Maeda.

The players we have brought in - who have we improved? Idah seems to be getting worse the longer hes here. Engels doesnt look to be moving forward. Trusty cant into the team. Bernardo hasnt kicked on at all. Surely we could expect Rodgers to be able to bring some of these guys forward no?

The love in for Ange in here is beyond cringey. * left and has absolutely no intention of working under the same conditions he did last time.

Guardiola regularly changes formation and tactics
Hes got 5 * strikers yet continues to play 1.

And before you moan about the quality of them everyone or them cost more than Almaty spent this summer.

Moans about the pitch being awful but continues to insist on his boring, slow, turgid side to side passing game. We could still be playing now and not have scored playing that way.

He seems oblivious to the fact it doesn't work against well organised teams. Has learned absolutely * all from that horror show of a cup final last season

Not quite getting it. What does this mean? Is it Rodgers success is just a continuation of Anges legacy or something else? Guessing something else but not sure what or why?

Nygren played the wing on Saturday and got man of the match. Daizen could have played instead of Yang. Kenny or Shin or no worse than their forwards

Other than he'd have identified and signed wingers by now.

Rodgers transfer market influence and inactivity is part of our problem.

I know so. Did you not see CCV playing on the right side of a 3? He was nowhere near his normal position late second half and extra time until Donovan came on.

I think the most damning indictment on Rodgers tonight is that there didn’t seem to be many, if any developments to how we set up or looked to hurt Kairat.

It wasn’t like we were unlucky in the first leg. At home they completely stifled us. It wasn’t a case of us just failing to take our chances; we barely created any in the first place.

So that’s going to be even more of problem away given all the obstacles like the travel, pitch, environment, etc. And sure enough we saw the exact same inability to progress the ball, to build any momentum, to create chances. That part is on Rodgers as much as it’s in the players and board IMO.

He starting to get on my *'s with the transfer questions, he says its all about timing well the time was 3 or 4 weeks ago, then he says he doesn't know what budget he's got moving forward, what a complete joke.

I'd argue he has improved Hatate and Maeda. Both had their best seasons statistically last year. He also improved Oriley. Hatate couldn't manage 90 mins most times under Ange never mind 120 and pens.

Mcgregor is 32 and naturally regressing.

I agree there's issues..but I don't think it's as simple as saying Ange wins comfortably. For one, forrest barely kicked a ball for 2 years under him and he's starting games now out of necessity.

It's just a mess. Rodgers would be as well walking anyway. But after he goes, let's be honest, it ain't gonna magically be fine. There's some deep rooted issued.

For me, it shows a complete lack of progress and continually relying on players we signed years ago.

It's always good to keep our better players, but we're essentially relying on Ange's first Summer and January window.

No, I mean wingers that improved our squad and didn't cause a log jam with the board. Ange was obstinate but not stupid. Rodgers is both and x 2
