Kieran Tierney

Discussion in 'Celtic Chat' started by Mr. Slippyfist, Aug 1, 2015.

  1. Will obviously take a while for Tierney to sharpen up fully but he looks much slower than he used to be. Cumbersome on the ball too.

Not sure what type of LB he'll be for us moving forward. I hope to * he isn't done, but some of his showings haven't been as promising as I had hoped.

  2. Likely our highest paid player and can't play beyond 60/70 minutes ?

  4. We need a plan for a proper LB.

  5. Looks to be carrying some type of injury. Doesn't seem to be able to fully stride out. Seems to be dragging a bit when running. Looks to have some type of hip problem. Will not go outside his marker 9 times out of 10 when he has the opportunity to do so. Too often goes up to the player and then turns back and plays the ball to one of his centre half's.

  6. Perhaps that's how he's been instructed to play, or has naturally adapted himself to play in order to reduce possible injuries.

He's no the same KT of his first spell, not that that necessarily means he is done by any stretch of the imagination.

Needs a proper run of games to get match fit.

  7. The comment you are responding to is a pretty accurate description of the Tierney that left here.

Think a lot of people have assumed the work Arsenal put into him has paid off but sadly time and injuries aren't a good combination.

Fools mission bringing him back, thanks Brendan!

  8. He's only back in the door 2mins.

Not even warmed up yet ffs, KT is not an issue.

  9. You might be right, hope you are, but this was my opinion before he returned. Those 2 mins look to be justifying my opinion.

On the bright side I'm very often wrong so fingers crossed.

It's not a surprise to anyone he's not fit we've said at length we knew that would be the case and would need a decent backup. Currently his backup is Liam Scales who a lot wouldn't trust to play his own position let alone elsewhere

  11. Jesus *, our biggest worry was we wouldn’t be careful with him. We’re being very * careful right now. Extremely, to the extent when it’s a play off CL Playoff worth £40m we still took him off.

We’re building him up to get the best out of him. We could overplay him and let him get injured for 8/9 months instead though if it’s a better option.

What I want us to * wrap doing when it comes to KT is expecting that he can do everything rather than make sure get the best out of what he’s best at.

We give him the ball before the halfway line far, far too much. He needs the ball final 3rd,

  12. I feel for him.

Rodgers has had 6 months to figure out how he's going to use Tierney, who's such a different type of full back to Taylor, and he just looks lost. No balance to the team. We actually look better set up with a player like Inamura.

Tierney will keep us solid in defence. Sort the attack and we'll be back to a force in the kiddy Europe cup

  14. Not even close to be one of our problems.

Some of our fans are actually mental. Slag Taylor like there’s no tomorrow for years then we get beat 1 games and they want him back lol.

  15. Not willing to write him off yet but does seem to be taking a while to get up to speed.

  16. Aye it isn't suited at all yet..

Him and Maeda don't gel like I thought they would. Maeda is about running in behind and KT likes to overlap at times..

If Jota was fit and coming inside he'd look a bit better but his fitness is a massive issue. You can see there's space but plenty times he'll stall on it, and I can only put that down to no wanting to exert too much on his body incase it breaks down..

The system is a problem though. There was more of a balance with the inverted left back. Inamura looked like it at the weekend and this is mental but against a low block side, would've given us far more last night in potentially breaking them down, at least from the bench..

It just isn't working. Balikwisha should help. Someone who comes inside, grafts back and forth and likes to play one twos and link the play. Bit of a mess though that we're likely gonna have to manage him so much..

  17. Very worrying indeed with him. 10 games in, still can't break the 70min mark. We needed him for last night, but his fitness is way off. He should be building his minutes but isn't but only 2 games ago is puking up at half time against Aberdeen.

He looks so far off it, that he should be the back up to Inamura just now.

  18. We should never have brought him back. 60 mins from a young man . Poor on our part.

I think he might have a minor injury. Im not buying that he got 'sick" at HT in the league. Clear to see that hes not running at full speed as well

  19. Hes either not fit or not the player he was. Hopefully not both.
