This is the one area where the board is actually good at and the fact that we actually are going to not just sell Tilio but basically for the say 1.5m euro that we ridiculously paid for him is actually pretty remarkable.

Rapid’s winger scouting has been unreal last few years. Guaranteed Tilio sold next summer £6 mil after 15 goals 15 assists for them

He’s better than he ever showed for Celtic but not Celtic level atm. Austria may well suit him.

We paid about 1.5m euro so if his is confirmed we basically have managed to get back what we paid for him.

Probably made a bit on him fees wise by time you factor in the 2 loan fees plus the transfer

To be fair, these cheap punts actually don’t bother us at all. Been loaned out his whole career with us. Wages will have been a % or covered by Melbourne.

It’s low risk high reward. There is always the chance they perform and we make a huge amount in comparison to the initial fee. And now in football unless someone leaves for free usually we get our money back.

only time it’s actually affected us is when it’s come to amount of international loans this year. Which then thankfully Rapid just bought him anyway

The most similar one to Tilio the cheap punt, infact on paper a lot worse a punt, was Rogic.

Only played in the same league, the A League. Had something bout them but not been amazing, one of them, was only playing due to winning a Nike tournament. Not even a football one as well, Futsal.

Both got injured early on Celtic career, brief glimpses, loaned back to the A League.

One hasn’t worked. One we absolutely * adore in Rogic.

I’ll never complain about the ‘punts’ the ones we think is a long shot maybe. Rogic is perfect example. There’s two others that stand out as great examples as well stick in my memory - Didier Agathe. £60k. A striker at Hibs for what 5 games? And then converted to full back for us, couldn’t actually pass a medical but O’Neill didn’t care about that. And * him as a RB at the top level, had no right to be what he was. Still the best at slide tackles I’ve ever seen for us.

The last example that sticks in my mind, Victor Wanyama. Signed in the hope he could cover at CB, had no thought of him actually being a midfielder. His first couple games could barely control or pass a ball. Used to be made to warm up and at half time train with Majstorivic to win aerial duels. Then it clicked, very suddenly for him. And he’s a player never ever been replaced

    Marco Tilio is Rapidler

24-year-old Australian remains green-white - change from Celtic to Hütteldorf:
The SK Rapid is pleased to be able to send the following transfer message: The Born in August 2001, Marco Tilio moved from Celtic FC from Glasgow to SK Rapid in Vienna-Hütteldorf with immediate effect. The Australian offensive player signed a contract up to and including the season 2028/29!

Marco Tilio began his football career at Sydney FC and moved to Melbourne City FC in September 2020. From there, he made the leap to Europe two years ago and was signed by the Celtic Football Club from Glasgow. From the now 55-time Scottish champion, he was loaned back to his home country to the previous club in Melbourne from February 2024. For this he brought it to a total of 107 competitive matches with around 50 direct goal participations (including 26 goals scored himself), in 2025 he was an important part of the champion team. For the Australian national team, Tilio has come to nine international matches so far, at the FIFA World Cup 2022 he was in the squad, but was not used. The "Aussie", who can be used variably in the offensive, who also has an Italian passport and thus an EU citizenship, has already successfully completed all sports medical tests and will immediately enter the green and white training operation.

    Voices on the transfer
Managing Director Sport Markus Katzer says about the current new addition: "Marco Tilio is a player who we have had on the radar for a very long time and I am particularly pleased that we have now managed to reach an agreement on a fixed commitment. With his speed and his skills, which he can show off in the attack, especially on the wing positions, he will enrich our offensive game. Even if he could not gain much practice at Celtic, it is certainly an advantage that he has already gained experience with a large and traditional European club. I look forward to the cooperation with confidence, just like our head coach Peter Stöger, and hope that Marco Tilio will give us a lot of joy in the future.”

The Australian international, who will play in the future in the Rapid jersey with the back number 7, says in a first statement: "I am happy that the transfer has now worked out after lengthy discussions and that I can be here in Vienna. I am now really happy to be able to introduce myself to the Rapid fans in the stadium soon and hope that I will start here quickly and play my first game.”
