That's crazy..... don't these daft * know the best deals are to be found in England in the last few days of the window.

Pure panic buying under the guise of "being prepared." Lunacy.

I don't think this transfer window has been very good so far... just my opinion

If it was anything do you really think the press wouldn’t be all over this

They’d be getting information from sources within Celtic

Celtic are in the market for two wingers, a striker and a left-back before the September 1 deadline, with a number of enquiries made on top targets.

They may also be forced into the market for a right-back depending on the severity of Alistair Johnston’s hamstring injury, which he picked up last night.

The Canada international had scans today and is awaiting the results.

Many of the top-level targets that Rodgers and the recruitment team want in are waiting to see if Celtic make the Champions League before making a decision.

Celtic need a winger to replace Nicolas Kuhn, who left for Como for £16.5m this summer – and also provide cover for Jota, who is out injured until January.

Feyenoord winger Calvin Stengs fits that bill. The Scottish champions have made an enquiry for the Netherlands international but are unlikely to make a move unless they secure Champions League football, as it would require a sizeable fee and big wages to sign him.

Sky Sports News understands the Hoops are still in the race for Go Ahead Eagles attacking midfielderJakob Breum. Fresh talks have been held today for the Denmark U21 international.

It’s understood the Eredivisie club are looking for at least £5m for Breum. Celtic have already had two bids rejected – the latest offer being £2.6m last month.

The 21-year-old, who can also play on both wings, has two years left on his contract.

Celtic are pursuing a deal for Royal Antwerp winger Michel-Ange Balikwisha.

Sky Sports News understands a fee in the region of £5m will be enough to secure the 24-year-old.

The Hoops are yet to replace striker Kyogo Furuhashi, who was sold to Rennes for £10m in January and has subsequently moved to Birmingham City.

They have signed Callum Osmand and Shin Yamada, but both appear to be project signings.

While the club are looking to sign another striker, if they can bring in two new wingers, it would allow Daizen Maeda to play as the No 9 with Adam Idah, Yamada and Johnny Kenny as back-up.

Celtic may have brought in club legend Kierney Tierney as their first-choice left-back – but they need cover.

Greg Taylor left Glasgow for Greece last month, when he joined PAOK after his contract expired.

Tierney is unlikely to be able to play all fixtures this season, so the Hoops are looking for someone to share the role with him.

Celtic know it is not as easy to sell for a second-choice left-back, but whoever they bring in will get a sufficient amount of game time.

At the moment, it looks like the Hoops are searching for a young player to fill that role and develop. But if they can’t secure that, they may have to go with a more experienced option, or a loan.

    * * man.

We’ve been ‘tracking’ this Balikwisha * since Jo Venglos was the manager.

    Sign him or don’t.
