More concerned playing sevco 3 days later so a big lead from the first leg would help and that result is the worst to happen especially the travelling time so Mr Desmond open the * wallet and get some players in ASAP .

12 hour flight from London. Bit bonkers for a European tie.

    No wanting any excuses.

Get them dealt with and then beat the Huns. Thats the standard and that’s what we expect

Hopefully we skud them at home by enough goals to ensure the 2nd leg of the tie is a formality.

And what a * of a team, they are * rotten.

If we cant convincingly beat them we should be catapulted out europe altogether.

I swear Inthought I was watching the womens euros again with some of those.pks, although to be fair the women probably wouldnt have needed pks to put out any of those 2.

Do bratislava operate the euro or another currency, im sure someone said that strelec was rated around 10 million euro or something or is it like slovacheque or something that equated to like £250k, hes a livi, ross county signing than anything else.

Why wouldn't we?? We've proved in the past how much an 8 hour journey to that part of the world can be a * for us. Hoping I'm wrong, but we're also extremely light on quality as well at the moment.

Obviously they've gotta come to us first doing the long journey, and no doubt the atmosphere will hit them at Celtic Park.

Plus this is Celtic, do we ever do anything easy lol.

Celtic have learned their opponents for the Champions League play-off round, following Slovan Bratislava and Kairat Almaty's third qualifying round second leg, which took place this evening (Tuesday, August 12).

Kairat emerged victorious over two legs, defeating their opponents 4-3 on penalties after drawing 1-1 on aggregate. Six days prior, Kairat won the first leg 1-0 in Kazakhstan, thanks to Dastan Satpayev's late penalty against the ten men of Bratislava.

At the Tehelne pole on Tuesday evening, Robert Mak levelled the tie for the home side after 30 minutes, as both sides went in all square at the break. Following the restart, both sides pushed for the decisive goal, though it did not transpire in the second half, with extra time needed after 180 minutes of play across two legs.

In the end, Kairat would prevail, as a penalty shootout was required to separate the two teams after extra time, with the away side beating the home side 4-3 on spot-kicks.

    Kairat Almaty fact file
Hailing from Almaty, the country's largest city, Kairat are the reigning Kazakhstan Premier League champions, winning the league over FC Astana by just a single point.

In doing so, they entered the first round of Champions League qualifying, which has led them to the play-offs, thanks to victory over Slovenia's Olimpija Ljubljana, KuPS of Finland and most recently, Slovan Bratislava.

Managed by former player Rafael Urazbakhtin, Kairat are halfway through their 2025 KPL season, where they sit three points clear at the top, having played 19 games so far.

Kairat's prized asset is that of forward Dastan Satpayev, who turned 17 years old on the date of the second leg versus Slovan Bratislava. He scored a 90th-minute penalty to put his side ahead in the first leg, and is due to join Chelsea next summer, shortly before his 18th birthday.

Though Satpayev is their star player, Kairat also possess players from various countries, including four from Brazil, as well as two from Portugal, among other nations.

The club play at the Almaty Central Stadium, which is a multi-purpose sporting facility - the largest in the country. It holds 23,804 spectators and has housed Kairat since 1957, while also hosting Kazakhstan's national football and rugby union teams, respectively.

We should be running these * ragged and switching the team up away no problem..

37 year old diddy Belarusians at the back. Jyst swarm them and finish it off early..

The country is partly in Europe. Other Soviet states are in AFC like Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. So don't think it's a soviet thing.

I don't think it really matters anyway, Australia isn't in Asia. Turkey is also mostly in Asia and play in Europe.

Nightmare tie, can see us crashing out of this.

They've got a few customary Brazilians and Portuguese playing for them, too. They'll no doubt turn into Ronaldinho and Ronaldo regens against us.

They are a poor side and we should be putting the tie to bed at Celtic Park.
