Maybe a loan could work.. but Rodgers and the Board aren't taking a hit on £9m

 

Thought today, and now rewatched, Idah while not spectacular or eye catching was key. Unselfish work from him, dragging guys around with moving, making space for others pushing their defence so deep, onto the 6 yard box the two cb’s with ample space penalty area and edge of the box.

He’d move to allow space for Forrest to move into, and Maeda to go beyond with when he got them to chase him.

He needs a goal, but add enough consistent goals into that play, I’m happy with that.

 

Exactly. It shows that our initial reaction when he first came in on loan was bang on.

He came in and ended up being excellent at a pivotal stage in the league, then obviously the big goal in the cup final.

If it doesn't work out for him here, which sadly it kinda looks like the way it's heading, he can look back on his career and put it down to luck.

Careers in general, particularly football relies on timing and luck, hard work as well obviously. But his loan move all happened at exactly the right time for him and he got his big move, big wages etc.

He hit his purple patch when he had to. The weird thing with Idah though is he does have goals in the champions league and he's scored at Ibrox.

It seems to be the * teams in the league that he struggles against.

 

Honestly we just need to accept he's pretty bad and take the hit.

 

He had the perfect opportunity to be first choice last season with Kyogo leaving and not being replaced, yet quickly lost his place to our starting winger. Maeda was incredible tbf, so ok I get it.

More concerning though is that he’s been given an even better opportunity this season with Kyogo still not replaced and Maeda forced to play wide due to injuries/sales, yet 2 starts in, he’s been poor and looks like he’d be straight back on the bench if we had another viable option.

Pretty sure he never nailed down a regular place in Norwich’s team either. Gotta be approaching make or break time now.

If Rodgers leaves in the summer can see the next manager coming in and instantly binning him.

 

Go watch the unique angle video on youtube with the goals against Aberdeen. He isnt celebrating with the team. When everyone is grouped up he slowly walks there and reach them when all go back to their positions.

 

The fee doesn't bother me really, he just isn't very good. Fine as a third choice but need miles better starting. Can easily see Shin being ahead of him come September.

 

A good loan spell pulled the wool over our eyes and Norwich had us over a barrel. He’ll score 20 a season but he’s not a team player, selfish moping * who thinks he’s far better than he is. He only turned up for a couple of games last season and Daizen done far more up top for us.

 

No even sure we would’ve signed him if he didn’t score the Scottish Cup tap in.

That and a Butland howler at Ibrox got him his move here

If we don't buy someone soon and Idah goes another game without scoring think you'll be seeing more of him.

 

Couple of posters on here Notorious one of them slated me last year when I said he was pish had a good couple of months and I apologise said maybe I got it wrong .Maybe he will come back now and apologise to me the guy is absolutely dug *

A scenario where he leaves and we have forward options of
New Striker , Yamada, Osmand & Maeda (covering from the wing) would be great for the season

More than happy for him to stay and be back up to a new forward though. Just need to accept he's a £2 million lump up top.

I do wonder if we'd benefit more from playing two up front for the moment though, let him drop deep and win flick ons for Maeda. Cos on the odd chance he does win the ball there's nobody to run on to it.

He was desperate for the permanent move here and he put in the graft and enough big performances to make it happen. That tells me he can do it and it's a mental thing. Maybe too comfortable now.

 

Brendan said he needs competition. He also sees hes got to comfortable and that breeds complacency
