Yamada was the last player we signed on a permanent deal this summer. The first report on Yamada broke on the 21st June, the deal was more or less done in early July with us just waiting on him to finish out international duty before signing.

Tierney, Osmand and Doohan were more or less sealed last season. Osmand more or less said in an interview recently the deal was done in January and we just had to wait.

McGowan broke the story on Inamura in June, similar timeline to Nygren, both in the door early July. That's more or less the timeline of our transfers far. These are deals that were concluded back last season or in June.

Since those deals we have had nothing other than a loan deal. It begs the question what has been happening re our recruitment over the past 4 weeks? Other than a loan deal for a kid from Man City we haven't had one concrete link on a transfer since then with our manager crying out for players. The Broem link seems to go back to June as well. Have Nicholson and Lawwell gone off on their holidays in one of the most crucial periods in the transfer window? I'm not actually messing here. Do these clowns who seemingly oversee our transfers actually take their annual leave during the busiest period of the transfer window while our manager is desperate to have players in before the start of the season?

It looks like we haven't bid for a player in the past 4 weeks.

Don't engage with his drivel. He knows less than nothing.

Even if we manage to get a few signings in the door before the window shuts i think it’s a disaster waiting to happen keeping this lot on the board in charge.

If you look at the majority of teams around Europe within our level, they've all spent decent sums trying to improve the first team … christ even most of the SPFL have improved their first team.

We were on fumes towards the end of last season, everyone knew exactly what we needed, and yet here we are with the CL around the corner and our attacking options are the worst its been in years.

It’s a total slap in the face to the supporters who spend thousands a year only for the board to penny pinch and have total indifference on improving the team.

I want to try and be as optimistic as possible regarding the running club.

Because at the at the earliest parts of the preseason there was maybe a feeling of promise, a decent run in the CL, another double in the bag, a cup final loss that whilst hurt, seemed like it could help prove if the right signings can be made, we could go onto to have a special season.

The argument that all in all, we were maybe only a Kyogo or Kuhn short of really supplementing this squad and getting to a level we could kick on from.

All of it becomes less and less something that can be argued and supported, everyday that passes is just leading to more and more pressure being built up that if for arguments sake come December there is only 2 points between us, and we have a game against the huns next and we lose. Riots.

Is it time to panic yet?
Once again the board are treating the fan base with contempt.

The director of Go Ahead Eagles slagging us about how we do our business in comparison to the huns now. It won't be long before other clubs across Europe get to know just how difficult it is to do transfer business with us and will look to do their business with other clubs who are not so amateurish and shambolic. Fecking joke

I don't think it's a secret, even before this comment from the Go Ahead Eagles director. We've been lowballing teams for years with offers.

We're quick enough to accept any offer for players we want shot of, but penny pinching * when we're trying to sign someone.

Our board are the dinosaurs of European football. As you said, we are quick enough to accept bids to move key players on. Lawwell can't understand how clubs can turn down money for players, how they risk not getting that money by rejecting bids. We are the only club in Europe who operate in this manner. We don't place any value on footballers whatsoever.

Can anyone explain the benefit of “patiently waiting” to get players in?

Other than them missing pre season, not learning our tactical shape and attacking patterns, or meeting their new team mates, missing crucial league games and CL qualifiers, the club panic buying them for more money on the last day etc

They think they are being shrewd business operators, whilst the rest of European football laugh at them. Well those who still consider us relevant.

There will 100% be agents and footballing directors who will refuse to do business with us. People talk, it’s an intrinsically linked industry.

And we still have a section of our fans, albeit a dwindling one, who think Lawwell is some sort of genius in the football world. He hasn't a * notion what he is at but he has one of the hardest necks I've ever seen.
