The comments will largely be the same … the can being kicked down the road for another year only to develop another clubs player in the financial position we’re in is laughable.


At the start of the summer, CB was a position we all wanted addressed on a permanent basis … the usual * show of a transfer window has lowered everyone’s expectations yet again.

It was announced earlier today that central defender, Jahmai Simpson-Pusey has joined Celtic on loan for the season from Manchester City.

Simpson-Pusey is one of the highest-rated youngsters in English football, picking up the Premier League 2 Player of the Year award last season as well as captaining his side to the PL2 title.

The Englishman spoke to Celtic TV after signing for the Scottish champions and explained why a move to Glasgow’s East End was appealing to him.

He said: “I had a long conversation with the manager and I liked what he was saying to me about the club.

“He told me how much he appreciates the club and how much Glasgow appreciates the club.

‘I wanted to go somewhere where, if I’m playing, I’ll be appreciated, so I felt like this was the best option for me.’

“This is a big opportunity. I want to come here and show my talent and my levels.

“It’ll be good for me to come and hopefully help the team to win the league again and do well in Europe.

“I’m over the moon really. I just want to come in here and get some wins.”

Hopefully an upgrade on Welsh, Lagerbielke & Nawrocki, who last season we had to rely on to step in. For me it looks like he is here to cover any injuries to CCV, rather than replace Trusty or Scales.

 

Good luck to the lad, like any player that joins us I hope he does well. But I can’t say I’m too enthused by it and do feel it’s lazy recruitment.

It’s a pointless exercise either way … either he’s pish and we’re no better than last season defensively or he’s the next VVD and City take him back next year and sell him for better money after we’ve developed him for them.

But because we’ve * about the entire window and the support are in desperation mode we’ll take whatever positives we can get from a 12 month loan from a Man City youth player.

The clubs ceiling on centre half’s shouldn’t be Trusty or Scales … that’s nonsense.

 

Jesus I hope he is a better footballer than he is a conversationalist. Lights are on but no one home.
