Aye the way he even burst forward from deep to make runs in behind several times was impressive, but also the power to hold off defenders which will be massive for us against teams sitting in deep.

Hold up play looks a great string to his bow. Excited to see what he can do.

Think the core Japanese group could be the heartbeat of the team this season. That triangle of hatate, maeda and shin with inamura featuring frequently.

I am hoping he can surprise them with his acceleration and strength. He isn’t going to be beating them in direct aerial challenges or anything but the old give them a little bump with his low centre of gravity to unbalance them and then being able to accelerate away.

Kyogo’s speed of thought and movement caused havoc up here when he first came in as no one knew how to handle him. There was some early glimpses of that in the game on Saturday, all be it a friendly. His disallowed goal he gets involved in the build up but doesn’t stand still and immediately makes a third man run when McCowan receives his pass so the ball from Tilio is on in behind. Even against a low block being on the move early with his acceleration as long as team mates are alert to it should create opportunities for him.

Kyogo outdone that type of opponent with movement and intelligence. From the, granted, very little we’ve seen of him - he looks like he’ll thrive on the physical battle. It’ll be can he display the movement and intelligence to get into the positions he’ll need to be to convert the multiple chances we will create more than can he deal with aggressive cart horses.

Kyogo outdone that type of opponent under Ange mainly. My worry with shin is Rodgers won’t like his constant runs to try beat the last man (which none of our players will pick him out) so it’ll continuously look like he’s not available for a pass being offside!

most teams play deep against us anyway but I think we need to trust in yamada from the beginning and allow him the game time to settle in. We know what we’re getting with idah. Now is the time to give someone else a solid chance, none of this 15 mins at the end of a game *

If he turns out to be a legitimate replacement for Kyogo that would be huge. But who knows at this point.

I would love it if he could be. I think a lot of people are starting to take for granted that kyogo was legitimately our best striker since henrik larsson.

As long as you don't include Hooper, Dembele or Edouard

I think he's 100% the Kyogo replacement tbh. Osmand will replace Kenny as third choice. Can't see us signing another striker as Maeda can cover there when Jota is back.

We need two wingers of high quality, one for each side.

Excited to see him in a competitive game. Maybe I just miss Kyogo.

I certainly would not be in that group. Don't get me wrong he scored a lot of goals and a lot of really big ones for us but I would take Hooper and Dembele ahead of Kyogo for sure.

Like it or not I suspect what your saying is probably correct. But of course the biscuit tin board still hasn't got us any wingers so much so that we still have Tilio likely on the bench for Sundays season opener.

The fact Rodgers alluded to “a lot of goals missing from the team”. Makes me think we might sign another striker and i’d like us to as Idah isn’t even close tor being good enough and Yamada is just off of a two goal season in Japan although i really do like the look of his speed and combativeness. A lot more suited profile wise than Idah.

Yeah wingers are definitely a priority.
He may also be referring to Kuhn as well though. We need to give whoever is up front some service and right now we will struggle to create with what we've got.

I know BR won't but he should start him on Sunday. Idah just isn't good enough and more of an impact sub.

Let's see what Yamada can do.
